Dutch design stool | steam bending wood with an egg cooker

This is my entry for the #RocklerBentWoodChallenge
In this video I show you how I made this stool from maple by using a jig made with CNC and using an egg cooker for steam bending the wood.
Because I do not have my own CNC, I go to my local makerspace/fablab 'de Kaasfabriek' (cheese factory) which is located in Alkmaar, The Netherlands.
For this stool I used some boards of hard maple with a thickness of 27 mm (bit more than 1 inch).

I just loved how you told the story. You drew me in. It is not about the stool or chair or table or whatever it is. It is about the journey of creating something artistic and functional at the same time. I am making an arched beam pergola right now using the bent lamination process. I drew it up in Fusion 360. Cut the templates with the cnc and now I am working my way toward something that is beautiful. Will it be what I imagined when I get there. I am not sure. But the journey gets me up in the mornings.

My first attempt at the challenge didn’t work either but we need to persevere. Love the shape and I’m sure you will refine it down the road and make it work as a stool. Maybe route in a grove and put some carbon fiber or a bent metal rod. Either way I loved watching this process. Great job brother

It could still make a nice stool if you hade a nice piece of support in the center to hold the weight and not put that force on the spiral legs. And if it were taller it would be an awesome bar stool.

Loved the concept. Liked most of the implementation. Really disliked the music. I set my volume to hear your voice and then the music comes on and blasts me out of my chair. I came for a woodwork education, not a concert.
