Same here lol. Saw it a few years ago for the first time when JC talked about it but it's a great segment that holds up very well. I do think that a lot of promos from that era of wrestling can come across as hit and miss. Tends to devolve into a lot of "lemme tell ya something" and talking over eachother but Jim really was a class above when it came to promos and making himself genuinely hateable. Even at this early stage of his career he's a detestable character lol.

Great angle, great times!! The golden era of professional wrestling to me. Pure, true, genuine, old fashioned, traditional championship wrestling. Grew up watching Memphis wrestling religiously every week with my grandparents & family. These are some of my very first, & favorite memories of my life. Thank you for the matches. Thank you for the magic. Thank you for the memories!! Also rest easy, Scott Bowden, Mr. Kentucky Fried Wrestling. YOU are so very, VERY missed, sir. Thank you as well for all & everything you did. Great channel, as a kid grow growing up in Canada I never had access to to any of these broadcasts back in the day (just wrestling magazines) but after listening to Cornettes podcasts it's nice to actually watch them.

Are they what you expected? Or were thinking sillier, crazier stuff with a lot of blood and gimmick matches and nothing else? Seems a lot of folks had misconceptions about Memphis until they actually watched it. Curious to get your take. Thanks for stopping by.
@fintanoclery26987 жыл бұрын
Kentucky Fried Rasslin No, I really wasn't sure what to expect but it's better quality wrestling than what was televised up here. We had Maple Leaf Wrestling (NWA affiliated til 84 then WWF) from Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto televised house shows from Hamilton and Brantford, and for a while a Buffalo station was televising AWA broadcasts. I read the magazines religiously and rented NWA and Japan tapes when they were available so it's real nice to finally see a lot these guys in action on their home turf.
