Dutch is responsible for two of the most memorable interviews of that time period in Memphis. Firing Cornette which they are talking about, and his interview after coming in to save the "good guys" when Tojo Yamamoto's team where beating them down and disrespecting the flag. He talked about going to Vietnam and how he couldn't just stand by and let foreigners disrespect America. That promo was integral in Dutch becoming a mainstay in Memphis for the next 10 to 15 years. People need to go back and see how really good Dutch was in the early 80s. He was one of the fastest wrestlers I've ever seen. No one was better at running down the isle, diving into the ring and come up throwing fist.

I'm from Louisville Kentucky, Cornette's hometown. Off topic, but Cornette has always been cool when I've met him. Early OVW days he was always there. Funny story. OVW back in the early 2000's would raffle off prizes. Some would be sign WWE items. One night as a joke they raffled off a Sprite can that Cornette had been drinking out of. My late best friend won it. And Cornette said "You have to drink the rest." My friend being so easy going did. Cornette on the mic said "I was joking."

Jim Cornette was ONE OF MY FAVES! I GOT suspended bc of Jim Cornette. I was in 5th Grade, and this bully kept bullying my friend. When I took up for my friend, he started bowing up. My Dad always told me "if you KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO FIGHT, PUNCH FIRST AND HIT THEM RIGHT IN THE NOSE AS HARD AS YOU CAN!" I did that, but then grabbed him and took him down. He was screaming about his nose, so when I had him pinned down, I thumped his nose! Jim had been thumping people's noses on TV, so I decided to end the fight with a nose thumping! I NEVER EVER got into another fight the rest of my school years because of this "victory." Everyone assumed I was some "bad ass," but I was really just someone that my Dad taught to defend myself...and I am not sure I could of took this guy without the initial hit to nose! I think it caught him completely off guard bc he was doing that whole bowing up thing where he keeps pushing his chest up against you talking. He was all talk, but I am glad I kicked his ass! He had terrorized my friend and others, and that stopped that day! He was still a prick to many, but never said another word to any of my people.

That's funny. I have a similar story. Someone stole my jacket on a basketball court, wore it while we continued playing thinking I wouldn't do anything; I chest passed to his face and commenced to beat his ass until I got my jacket back. I was known as the school nerd and he was a "cool kid" in comparison. No one knew I was doing martial arts on the side. When they found out, I was promoted to "cool kid" where I immediately told everyone who didn't know me before to summarily fuck all the way off.

@@phxsisko AWESOME! It is ashame that parents do not teach their kids to do the same rather than act like giant pu&&ies and go shooting up their classmates or I guess the super small kids now with the sickening Uvalde shooting! That crap never happened in my era! We settled it with fists, although their was a stabbing my 9th grade year! I was one of the smallest kids by then weighing a buck ten soaking wet as other kids started to grow, but not me. I was the smallest kid in the Senior Class. The soccer team called me Munchkin ...an apposing Coach told the newspaper that he was not going to let "their tiny, little munchkin beat us!" We kicked their butt! I was small, but I was a great soccer player starting for varsity team while still in middle school....but I wanted to be a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER! THERE wasn't even a weight division for me! smdh I sucked at every other sport! haha., but soccer got me a full ride to a smaller college in Charleston, SC so f it! --which I did----flunking out after the 2nd semester! haha I got into full time radio by 18, so never went to a class 2nd semester but did not botehr to withdraw for whatever reason to save a semester of straight Fs! I ended up going back during a radio hiatus, and doing much much better when I was "Mature" I guess. The whole "we do not care if you come or not" made getting up for early classes after a night of partying completely not appealing! I ended up with a big ole STUDENT LOAN I WISH I HAD NOT PAID OFF NOW! I AM SO ANGRY AND JEALOUS ABOUT THE STUDENT LOANS GETTING PAID OFF BY THE GOVERNMENT! I AM SALTY AF OVER IT! Rock N Roll Express went to Crockett, first, and then the Midnights came in, working the Georgia end first, before they brought them together. Georgia and Mid-Atlantic were kept apart, at the start of Crockett's buy-out, before they integrated the whole thing. In Memphis, Cornette managed Sherri Martel, Jesse Barr, Dutch, and The Galaxians (Ken Wayne and Danny Davis, before they became The Nightmares). For the short-lived Georgia Superstars spin-off, of GCW, he managed The Angel & The Bounty Hunter and Norman Frederick Charles the II & King Carl Fergie. That was the Memphis group that Ole brought in to work more of the Georgia towns, while their crew was doing Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. Bill Dundee booked and was lead babyface and Bobby Fulton & Terry Taylor were the babyface tag-team, The Fantastic Ones, doing a Fabs rip-off. They had their own tv and clips were shown, on WTBS, on the Sunday Best of World Championship Wrestling. That was my intro to Corny, after seeing him in the Apter mags, with the Galaxians.

The Momma's Boy gimmick that Cornette used to play as a manager during his Midnight Express years was funny as hell but also a great heat magnet. The idea that if the Midnight Express was winning matches and had belts around their wastes "Momma was happy!" and if the Midnight Express was losing matches and didn't have belts around their wastes "Momma wasn't happy! And if Momma ain't happy then nobody is happy!" lol. If Momma was happy "little Jimmy" got a nice allowance, the boys got invited over for fried chicken and apple pie! If Momma wasn't happy no allowance for Jimmy and no fried chicken and apple pie for the boys. THAT SHIT IS CLASSIC BWAHAHAHA!!! Throw in that loud mouth of Jim Cornette with the loud suits and the tennis racket and a rather "flexible bending of the rules" especially where that tennis racket was concerned along with the whole Momma's Boy gimmick... It's always a bit amusing listening to talk of the American political spectrum. In actuality you just have shades of conservatism, there is no real left or even centre in your country. This is why you are still a good 20 years behind the rest of the major economies in terms of social concerns, social equality and social harmony.. Well, to be fair, you are at about the same level as Turkey, but that's like being the best looking man in the burns unit. Now that you have re-outlawed abortion, there's noise about repealing same-sex marriage. You folks are too hilarious. Maybe if you work hard you can go back to arresting gays for being gay. You are steadily moving backwards, which will result in even more conflict. You can thank your churches for that one. I rather hope that Trump is re-elected, that should bring the death knell for the American experiment. Not to mention provide 4 more years of outstanding comedy. I wonder if he will release that health care plan he's been sitting on for 5 or 6 years. Or did he (gasp) lie about that too.

@@iancormier7550 - No, you oversimplified it like a dumbass conservative would, because to a conservative, a Nazi has the same moral and ethical ground as a liberal.

@@milesalpha1 - 100% correct. Anything even remotely to the left in America is deemed either "evil socialism" or "evil communism" and most Americans can't even tell you the definition of those things they think are evil. We are a pro-military war nation that has a large population that thinks everyone should believe the same religion as them. That's about as right-wing as it gets. As soon as Bernie Sanders (SocDem) got even remotely close to being a candidate in 2016, the establishment crushed him and cheated him out of the primary.

5:28 Yeah! Some of Cornettes listeners hate his political takes. I use to be leftist from 2008 to 2015, then right winger from 2016 to 2019. Then I saw the hypocrisy of both sides and became a centrist.
