Delicious dutch oven braised lamb shanks are a fun and delicious camp meal! We braised in red whine, stock and onions. Once braised for a couple hours we added gold potatoes and butternut squash for the final hour. Served over white rice and you have yourself one fantastic meal!

OMG…. It smells like Grandma Cathrine’s on Sunday morning after Church… and we had Minty Mushy Peas as well… Her parents were from Dublin… Immigrated to the USA around 1895.

I DO love Lamb! Many years ago, I worked for a French company here in Atlanta. One night they took all of us to a French restaurant nearby. I sat there while everybody else ordered and then I saw the Lamb Marsala and ordered that. The "lady" sitting next to me got this horrified look on her face and got up and made somebody on the other side of the table change places with her! Seems she was a (extreme) Vegetarian, and someone eating lamb somehow offended her!

Hey an idea I suppose I should have tried my self, I've been thinking about it for so long, but I ain't got the balls..and I don't know if anyone else has tried it... When you want to brown really odd shaped meat like them shanks and drumsticks etc, try putting an amount of ball bearings in the pan to create a form fitting surface. It'd work well in a dutch oven I think. I been watching you guys for a few years now, I like your adventures and your cooking. Greetings from Sydney.

Not much better than baby sheep. If you haven't already, do a braise on lamb shoulder. Try using spices like garam masala (India), ras al hanout (North African) or za'atar (Mediterranean). Or do lamb adobo, using chilies and orange juice.. Fantastic. Thanks for the video.
