How well built is this popular and relatively cheap induction cooktop. I noticed I made a lot of slight errors when re-watching this, so I hope you get the just of everything. As I've used it more, I think the fan bearings are questionable as they grind once in a while.
I have a second channel:

The covered IC is a special micro-controller for induction heaters CMS69P22. Two of the screws in the heat-sink holds one bridge rectifier.

How wide is the coils? And does it heat all across it? I have the 8300st and it will only heat up in the smaller circle on the surface.... disappointing because I cook crepes...

What I find interesting is the coil, which by the looks of it, is a triple coil. So when you put smaller pots on it it only uses 1-2. I think the induction zones in our Electrolux stove are probably cruder. They have a fairly large diameters specified and if you turn it on high you can sometimes see where it actually heats by the bubbles. It a disappointingly narrow ring, compared to the size of the circle. But the large was do up to aroudn 3000W maximum which is a big advantage. These single ones usually sadly max out at about 2000W. Probably because frigging North America with the stupid 110-120 Voltage and standard 16A circuit breakers... Here 16A is standard for 230V, sou you get 3600W by default.

I was wondering why triple coil. I was under the impression that you HAVE to use only pots of a specific size for the induction stove top and not smaller or bigger. If you can use smaller size pots with this Duxtop why not mark the surface accordingly?

that thermal paste? yes it had what you said, a thermal sensor, and also i believe it had another sensor too, so it knows when a iron pot/plate etc is on it, atleast mine did anyway.

I purchased one of these or a clone of one, like you to see if I liked the idea of induction cooking. I now have a full size cooker top and simply love it. So fast and so easy to keep clean. I will never go back to a conventional cooker, either electric or gas. As these use a capacitor to drop the voltage, it would not be easy to make it both 120 and 240 volts. There might also be an issue with the 50/60Hz as I expect this frequency is used as part of the timing circuit. I am new to your channel after watching the vid on LED lamps. We have similar interests.

Hi Michael, I am interested in a stovetop induction cooker and since you love yours, could you tell me what is the brand, model and rough cost? I've heard that some have reliability issues and I don't want to buy a lemon. Cheers!

Our induction top is made by BEKO I cannot remember the model number (as it was 3 years ago) it cost $1300NZ at that time. I still love it and no problems so far. Some are available with 2 year warranty. It is full of electronics so I guess it may well be less reliable than one with just a heating element. On that basis however, no one would buy a TV!! For ease of cleaning chose one without metal trim. Ours still looks brand new. Cleaning takes under 1 minuet, try cleaning a gas top in 1 minuet!! I STILL would never change back. Don't even think about those dreadful infrared tops, they are bad in so many ways!

The caps by the inductor most likely form an lc tank circuit. The Zilog chip is most likely a Z80 iteration.

My mom got me a similar stove for christmas.I have a visual imparement and needed one because they are cool to the touch. I just unboxed it and tried it out for the first time yesterday and it gave an error after 4mins on max and would stop cooking. I almost thought it was busted but experimented with other pots and it works with some but not others. It looks like the more magnetic the bottom of the pot is the more likely chance it won't give an error. Is this normal? Sould I invest in all magnetic pots and do they need to be entirely magnetic or just the bottom? It was giving the E2 error with a pot that had a magnetic ring on the bottom with little holes/dimples. I had to keep manually running it untill it boiled with that one. Using another pot, I got water to boil with 0 errors at all, that pot had a very thick solid magnetic bottom. Sorry for the stupid questions.

Yes, inductive cooktops require ferrous metals to work. they won't work with any aluminum/alloy cookware. Bring a magnet with you when shopping for appropriate pots/pans.😁😆

Loved your video. I never once noticed you were chewing gum until I read the complaints from crybabies who not only want a free video but perfect execution. Really! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 I am trying to clean a dirty fan etc that is about 3 years old so you will never know how much you helped an old senior citizen today. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to go buy a new one. My power button has worn out. Hopefully, I will locate a replacement at an electronic parts store since I watched your video. Maybe I would not screw up sodering the new one. Wish me luck! 🙏🙏🙏 Thanks!

Should do- they usually have a full wave rectifier on the inlet. In fact may work better and be quieter. However, it's not guaranteed to work of course, they're not designed for it.

thats because it is detecting its not a pot and might also have something to do with the weight. I wouldn't try that though as you could damage it as the load difference could blow it up.

Probably not grounded because there are no parts of the hob that could become ⚡LIVE⚡...... I live in the UK, and I have a similar SINGLE ZONE, TOUCH-SENSOR (not mechanical switches) PORTABLE INDUCTION HOB, rated at 230V, 2KW. These hobs have a COOLING FAN, similar to a computer fan. These are prone to becoming clogged with dust over time! These hobs are cheap, fast, and energy efficient ...... EDIT: My hob is 6 years old, and used most days. No problems at all. Fan slightly dusty ...... ANOTHER EDIT: My display (and yours) are LED, and not LCD. Mine is RED LED.

Electric cooking is horrible, induction extra much. 1800W, considering efficiencies and misc electric stuff maybe 1700W is going into the pan, which needs to be a specially designed pan. My 4-pit gas stove, which cost just as much as this 1-pit induction, puts out 12kW of heating power and has no computer fan in it. Typical gas stove with a wok pit will put out 15-25kW which is basically unheard of in electric cooking even if you have 3-phase in your house
