Heads up for those of you who like a dark room at night>> the draperies and blinds are not "snug" or wide over the windows/doors so the rooms are bright at night. Fortunately for us, we always travel with a small roll of painters tape and have found it to come in handy for quite a few things including DCL/cruises where we use it to secure closet doors, hangars, or squeaks as the ship moves. We put it to good use taping the ends of the drapes and blinds. We loved the resort and like taking boat transportation to Disney Springs for meals. We plan to return after sampling a few other resorts. The bar actually sits ~20+/- and we enjoyed the cozy vibe. There is an alcove, if you enter the bar to the left, that most people don't notice. If the bar is full just go around the corner or take your drinks to one of the high tops next to the water.

My family has been coming to Disney every other year since 1998 and my father is so loyal to OKW that he's refused to stay at any other resort. He loves how home-y and familiar it is. The grand villa rooms have basically become my family's "vacation home" because we're so familiar with the room layout. My parents are both older and they love the peace and quite that OKW offers. We go for 10 days and they usually spend at least five or six days just in the resort laying at the pool during the day and spending the evenings at Disney Springs. That's how much they love Old Key West.

One of our favorite memories from our last WDW trip, was taking the boat from Disney Springs to Old Key West. We loved just walking around the property and they have an amazing gift shop!

Great reviews. Wish you would add to all of them a score for ease of travel to the parks. Having 2-3 kids, matters a lot to me.

We had a 2 br in 2017(pre-referb). We had 7 people in it and had plenty of room for everyone. Prior trips have included Coronado, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Pop Century and OKW is hands down my favorite! I have been seriously considering DVC because of this exact resort! We did eat dinner one night at Olivia's and I can still taste the Chimichurri Brussel Sprouts that came with my steak! Can't reccomend this resort enough!

Michelle M Same here!! For me, it’s the conch fritters (ahhh🥰). Love the laid back atmosphere! I’ve stayed at Pop, AS Movies, BayLake, SS...but OKW is my FAVE❣️Saving up my money for a DVC purchase😉

We bought into DVC in ‘93 at OKW. Absolutely love this resort. We sold our points a couple of years ago but if we go back we will rent points to stay at OKW again. When they did the reno of the pool a few years ago I was so sad that they removed the bridge over the pool. It was a great place to get pictures of the kids swimming and while in the water being able to stand in the shade was a lifesaver in the summer. The seating area to the side of the check in area was called Papa’s Den after Hemingway. Is it not called that any longer? Thanks for the trip down memory lane

We only stayed at OKW once. It was almost exactly 3 years ago. We had a studio. It was large compared to other DVC studios. The room was worn-out though - very worn-out. If it has taken 3 years to refurbish the rooms from that state - that's not great. The other slight annoyance was that we had to walk literally almost 1/4 mile to get ice. Ice was only available in a few locations.

I’ve always loved Old Key West...wish I would’ve bought in it back in 91. I’ll still buy in OKW eventually, more so now since the rooms look great and the price isn’t that bad.

In June, July, and August, the sauna could be open-air and noone would know the difference. OKW had rooms available (for non-members) when I was booking a vacation recently and I was considering it but wanted something closer to Epcot for this trip.

We've been members since early 1992. We really love OKW. We've tried a couple other resorts at WDW, but we always miss OKW. The OG Disney Vacation Club resort. I have to say, when I saw the remodel/rehab online, I wasn't sure I'd like it. But we saw it in person this past July and it was really pretty nice. It shows a lot better in person than on a screen. We still miss some of the special touches from the 90s like the peach colored towels, placemats and the Fiestaware dishes. But all in all, it's still our favorite. We love it so much we are one of the rare OKW members who extended our contract to 2057 when they offered it.

I would love to buy a 2 bedroom condo near Disney that had a similar layout like Old Key West. I am so comfortable when I stay at OKW I am never ready to leave. I own at BCR, BWV and CC but stay at OKW most stays at WDW.

OKW may very well be the "best kept secret" of DVC, especially for newer members. I hope it stays that way, along with Kidani.

Steve, I've been staying at OKW for 20 years, and one of the many reasons you stay there is because you DON'T have to see a big lobby or a piano player.

OKW isn't my home resort, Saratoga Springs is, however, I have chosen to stay at OKW more than any other non home resort, and certainly more than my secondary home resort BLT. It was thr resort we close for our resort only stay. One thing you didn't mention is the Conch Flats history tour. I think it was offered on a Wednesday morning. They took us all around the main area telling us all about the different things we see, talked about the names used and why for instance, the lounge is Gurgling Suitcase. It was so interesting and enjoyable. It ended with banana bread from Olivia's at community hall, and we got an exclusive pin. OKW is everything I want in retirement living. I could live there.

Just finished a 10 day in the 3bdr grand over 4th of july with 8 people total, so spacious. OKW is home, own OKW and AK but OKW is home, going back in Jan for another 10 in the 1bdr. Old Key is the best on property, it's not a block hotel, it's a townhome. I've stayed at 7 DVC resorts, owner sence 10, been to old key 5 seperate times, just keep going back. Its Home.

Mom with young kiddos here, personally for us, it's not a great resort for people with little kids. BTW, Jackie is the only one on the panel who has kids, I wish they would have asked her a little more about that. It's sooo big and hard to lug around all the stuff that comes with kids. Also, the main pool closes all the time, most of the day due to bird poop, there's too much wildlife in the area (such a bummer for kids). IMO.... This is a great resort for childless adults looking to relax. But if you have lil kids there are much better dvc resorts (like beach club)

Hey, we loved our stay at Old Key West back in April 2018. We stayed in a 2 bed villa and it was beautiful. Was your server at Olivia’s a lovely young lady called Linda!? She was great fun and made our night eating there even more perfect! I hope she got our cast compliments 😁

Wish they would have refurbished with 2 toilets.... you can sleep 5 in one bed... that calls for 2 Love staying there for room size! Transportation does take time however due to size of resort!

The only way I’ll ever become a DVC member is to buy OKW direct from Disney to lock in all the perks and be a full, blue card member to protect against future perk stripping. Is there any way to buy direct for this resort???🤷🏼‍♂️ And yes, after pulling that off I’d buy big resale OKW from the DVC Store-

Just stayed at Old Key West last week for 2 nights. It was really lovely and had a relaxed feel. My only negative was that there was a gecko in our bathroom which my husband had to remove. Also when we returned to our room at night there were 2 geckos climbing the walls outside our front door. For that reason, I probably wouldn't stay again, which is too bad because I really loved everything else about it.

Debi O'Keefe I would agree, whatever resort you stay at in Florida, you will see wildlife. Especially lizards. We stay at Shades of Green typically, you see turkeys, lizards, armadillos, gators, deer. I kind of love it
