We purchased a Copper Creek contract through DVC Resale Market last October and saved $75 per point! The process was very easy and everyone so helpful.

OH - and talk about savings! so I bought my Beach Club contract at $142 per point. I was just on property this past spring and talking with a DVC rep on property and let him know I bought resale. He asked how much I paid per point at BCV. When I told him $142 per point, he said "Did you pass first right of refusal?? I said yes, that I just sent in my notarized contract. He was floored that Disney did not buy it back because it is $245 per point direct. I bought 325 points, so that saved about 30K!!

Awesome!, how do you feel about the Disney perks (“perks”) you don’t get when buying resale? That’s my main reason for hesitating… with resale anyway

Double down on getting more points than you think you need. We bought direct at Aulani with the idea of staying in studios (there are only 3 of us). On our first trip to WDW, we couldn’t get a studio, so we stayed at a refurbished 1-bedroom at Boardwalk. We’ve been a 1-bedroom family ever since then. Definitely think about how often you want to go and look at both the studio and 1-bedroom point charts to make sure you have enough!

Agreed. At first I was only going to buy 175, then we went for 325. So glad we did. Buy like you will want a 1-2 bedroom because you eventually will. 😂

Can you answer this question. Are there only so many contacts out there? For example , you spoke about contracts that are being bought by Disney. If Disney resells those contracts, does the expiration date change to 50 years. Have you seen any of the contracts that Disney is using its buy back feature come on the market? Because if you have a reduction you are lowering your possible hedge against inflation. That would be the reason, I might consider buying direct. Of coarse what you can afford now is also improtant.

We are direct owners at CC and are in the process of an add on resale at SSR. We just passed ROFR. We are so excited to have more disney memories with our family. 🥰 Marisa helped me and couldn’t be sweeter

If I buy resell at grand California, can I transfer my direct sale from Aluani and book 11 months out if I don’t have enough grand California.

Resale is a no-brainer. Especially if you're not a local. The price difference far outweighs any discount you might get with the Blue Card. The AP discount (if it ever returns) might be the one exception, but again, if you're not a local and vacation once a year, the AP discount is a non-issue. The Moonlight Magic events may or may not happen at a time when you can vacation; you certainly won't plan your out-of-town vacation around that event. My family bought a 100 points Boulder Ridge contract resale in 2017 for our vacations, and there's no way we would reconsider. I've done the math, and for roughly what we'd pay for Caribbean Beach, we're at freakin' Wilderness Lodge. And that value will increase as prices go up for the hotels. Research what you need in terms of points, use year, and home resort (buy where you want to stay!). Use the Disney and resale company agents to help determine those needs with you. Then, patiently wait for the contract you want to go up for sale. It'll happen.

After 10 years of lobbying my husband to buy into DVC, we finally are members and bought resale at Beach Club Villas. We were thinking about becoming full members by buying the minimum direct from Disney with Copper Creek. However... in the process of putting together the final amounts for deposit, fees, etc... the minimum direct buy-in went up from 125-150. So frustrated because just those 25 points deterred my husband from proceeding. Now, I'm just thinking just buying another contract resale would be a better deal especially considering all the perks pretty much have fallen flat. We are really just there for the room anyway. Thank goodness resale contracts are an option!!

Great intro! I’m surprised you guys didn’t talk about how Riviera is different in resale. Cannot use resale points towards riviera stay unless they are riviera resale. Personally, It doesn’t matter to me because I think riviera is too expensive point charts, but could be smart to mention

What about the resale restrictions at Riviera and future? What about the minimum direct purchase for benefits?

Future show idea from a DVC only perspective - Do a deeper dive into each DVC resort. Here are the reasons to pick this resort for your home resort. Here are what many consider the drawbacks or trade offs of this as your home resort.

Waiting patiently for ROFR on my first contract. With several Hilton Head going for $72 and $75 a point, I don't see Disney taking this one back. Fingers crossed!

We brought Saratoga resale a few years ago before all the changes came in so have a blue card ! As far as moonlight magic and other offerings go being from the Uk we miss out on them due to the times we travel etc and the one and only time we were out when they were doing one we didn’t get it! So like you guys said . The Blue card isn’t the be all and end all buying resale and saving $$$ is !

This is what I’m trying to decide for next couple years. Do I buy resale and get lower payment/more points or buy from Disney less for bigger payment /less points but get the perks.
@lesliereynolds44923 жыл бұрын
Does the blue card only work if you are using points for a stay. I thought I read someone said you could only use the blue card to get into a lounge if you were actually staying on property. The after hours thing won’t work for me as I live in California and I’ve never heard of them doing it at our theme parks.

I’m unfortunately selling my resale now due to needing more points for my family. So hopefully we will purchase a larger one in the future however with all the price increases for less of an experience at Disney we may put our Disney addiction on hold. Bob Chapek I feel is hurting the brand. Mickey not so scary was what $69 starting last year now the boo bash is like $160-$200 for less fo an experience and less time in the park?

Totally disagree. We stopped in a 1 bed once and always got back to studio, much more of a hotel feel and just beautiful rooms. We are a family and they suit us fine.
