I was there! The crowd went ballistic when Radiohead came out, and I was just a 19-year-old girl in a crazy writhing mass of humanity. I crowd-surfed out during Talk Show Host just so I wouldn't get crushed. Incredible memory. I was in love with Radiohead since The Bends, but that day at the Tibetan Freedom Concert sealed it forever.

The_Undiscovered_Country I was there, too! This was the week before I graduated from high school...caught the train from Philly to DC for the weekend with two friends & made it back just in time for our very last final exam. Ahhh, the memories. One of the best weekends of my life (save the lightning strikes). Look at everyone interacting and being present in the moment without their cell phones!!! Just bought my 13-yr-old nephew Radiohead tix for this summer...::sobs:: I feel old!!!
@rbeeler816 жыл бұрын
Same here, but just finished junior year. Was a bit confused bc at the HFestival beer bracelets were given out and all you had to do was buy one off an old hippy. It was only after getting into the stadium did we realize no booze was sold. Had an enjoyable time nevertheless...was a massive RH fan.
@nanpet466 жыл бұрын
I forgot about the no booze thing! I was there too - a whole bunch of 22 year olds so we pre-gamed right outside the gates while listening to Dave Matthews Band before entering the stadium. Man, was that awful when the lightening struck! So many great bands I saw for the first time that weekend!! 20 years ago already - can we go back please?!?!

love thom's little reminder around 15:40 to tell the crowd that they shouldn't just go to the concert, if they care about the cause it's for (Tibetan Freedom) they should go to the march happening the following week and send messages to the president/politicians about it. Shows that he actually cares why they're there and what they're there for. ive heard him talk about charity concerts and how he feels like there are more effective ways of pushing for change in the world and so that little shout out shows that he means it. good for him.
