I think Gremlins would have still been a great horror movie if Gizmo turned into Stripe, but I think Spielberg was right that Gizmo needed to stay a good guy, because that made the movie more fun and marketable!

It's so sad to know that a majority of the gremlin puppets are gone. Especially considering all of the hard work and dedication their makers put into making those puppets. :(
