Barbara Steele was so funny and brilliant! She didn't disappoint. Such a pity she didn't make more movies in the 80s and after. What a classy lady, she's the woman equivalent of Christopher Lee.

+Jessica Gray I've already seen it and it was bad. It was wonderful to see Barbara Steele again (and some of the other horror actresses too), but her talent was wasted in this poorly-written, crappy-looking production. On the other hand I recently watched 5 tombe per un medium, which was a lot more interesting and had Barbara in all her glory.

+retrogaming Well, I actually liked it...but then again, I give a lot of lenience to horror movies, particularly these days.
@retrogaming76549 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Gray I can't be so lenient. We shouldn't. This encourages modern directors to make lousy movies and get away with it. Old horror movies were so much better, a real craft. Not all of course, but they were more gems to be found and many were worth a second viewing, which is rarely the case nowadays.

+retrogaming I see your point. It isn't just horror movies--many movies just feel thrown together these days with special effects and lots of sex. The old movies--particularly in the 70s--could sometimes be slow...but I have to admit more thought went into them. Even if they were low budget, they could have presence. Did you ever watch the new Dark Shadows? I'm talking about the series not the movie with Johnny Depp. That was actually my first introduction to Barbara Steele. Then later I did catch her in an old movie...though I forgot which one...but she was superb.

Barbara Steele is so DRAMATIC in everything she says - her facial gestures, her voice- it's so much fun to watch and listen to her!

One of two PIRANHA shows we taped. The first version, with Joe, producer Jon Davidson, and Dick Miller. But when it opened with Jon wearing a piranha mask, saying that it was a personal picture for him, the program director thought it got way too silly. So... Take Two.

I was so surprised and thrilled to have found this vintage segment included (as a bonus item) on one of the excellent Jon Dante "Masters Of Horror" DVDs. And now, it's a real treat to find it here on YT as well. Pure gold -- splendid guests, wonderful interviews! Looking forward to viewing your other intriguing uploads... Best wishes.

Barbara Steele should have Been a huge star. One of a kind !! She had it all , charm, Alluring , sexy by the ton, witty, silly and fun. But most of all super intelligent. That's what probably kept her out of being a bigger star.

I saw it for the first time about a year ago. Most of the movies I ever saw of her were placed in Victorian times or she was a wheelchair bound prison warden or a lonely lesbian. Typecast! I thought it was mostly refreshing placing her in somewhat modern times. She can definitely hold her own. I love her in The Butterfly Room!

Back when interviewers would let their guests talk and finish their stories, nowadays show hosts just constantly interrupt their guests mid sentence to keep the focus on themselves. (sigh) People were definitely more polite back then...

Thank you so much for uploading this! Where can I find more info on the series/TV channel? Is this from 1979 (as Dante refers to shooting March the year previous)? I'd love to refer to it in something I'm writing at the moment so some extra info would be really great!
