Everything you said was spot on. I was in a relationship with someone that was in the car business for two years and thank goodness he got out. In the car business, anyone thinking about doing it keep in mind the dealership you work at is 90% of your experience. I make 9-14k / month. Work right at 50 hrs a week. The money you will make is HEAVILY dependant on your ability to sell. Contrary to popular belief sales is a skill. Not everyone is at the same skill level. Some guys at my dealership only make 50-60 per year. If your not making atleast 75k selling cars you either are at a bad dealership or suck at selling. Hope this helps!

If you want experience as an outside sales rep, this is the boot camp for this. A company that requires outside sales experience and you don't have it, you won't get that job. You come in with about two years of car sales experience, you are gold. Sometimes, you have to take two steps back to go three steps forward. Don't let your ego prevent you from venturing outside your comfort zone. This doesn't apply to everyone but for those that it does, this should make perfect sense.

There's multiple ways to look at this, If you've only been in the business for a short few months, given the sales background, you probably are adapting fairly fast and learning something new everyday. The comment that you made about money not being consistent, No you can never guess the kind of day that you may have. But it's your job to create a book of business, ask for the business and referrals. and market yourself for what you do and specialize in. Ive been 35+ cars now for the last 7 months. Never selling any less than 27. There's huge growth oppurtunities and career chances, but it takes someone that is going to work to the bone to achieve there dreams and live the lifestyle that you want. The job is not for everyone and I highly suggest that if you're not self motivated and driven to be the best and have everything you could dream of. It may be the wrong business.

Pretty darn accurate for a Franchise Dealership job. I worked at several. Car Dog for over 15 years. And brother, this is probably the hardest job anyone will do. I have seen so much and yes, you probably will lose your relationship, especially if it's not strong. If you don't take care of yourself, you will definitely shorten your lifespan as well. You will not see your friends or family. You will miss out on many things. If you have young kids, you will miss out seeing them grow up and enjoying everyday life. I have worked every Holiday except Christmas Day. And that does suck. It's not for everyone, but if you have the right mindset, treat people and your co-workers well, you should be able to make a good solid career from all the blood, sweat, and tears you put into it. ONLY job I know where you can make a six figure income with no College degree. Be sure that your job description is what your job position is and not "YOUR THE JOB "... you being a female (especially NEW HIRE ) is tough competition as it is with your co-workers alone male an already-established females there which can be your biggest downfall.... I know firsthand, my now EX- girlfriend work at a dealership Hendricks in Duluth Georgia and she only been there for 1 month and 2 days today and they already turned her out!! She got suckered thinking she has to work all the way to 12 A.M MIDNIGHT & sometimes 2 A.M. (Unheard of for a car dealership🤔 ). Because she was pretty and wore a lot of makeup resulting in doing sexual favors for sale closures managers thinking that will bring on more sales for her and yet in the end the following day still got no sale!. They would literally steal money from her when she makes a sale, laughing along the way thinking they got her back ( HER WORDS ) luckily she gets paid minimum wage plus commission... We're no longer together because of her job. The point is, it is a dog-eat-dog business as a female yes you will get the attention from new potential buyers but it will be meaningless if you don't go in there ready on your A game and alert ready 4 the " Frat House " bullshit!..

David’s laboratory some dealerships are very strict about their employees criminal history. The deal will always be fair for the customer. It’s not like you are allow to over charge them. Just because you made money (the point of going to work every day) does not mean the did not get a great deal. Add value to the experience and the product, before, and after the sale, and your customers will love you. If you suck, you could give the car away, and the customer will still think they left money on the table.

@dverdin557 жыл бұрын
Pratik Shah you work at minimum 8 hours per day. You will typically work 5 day's a week with your days off set during the week. Rarely will you get weekends off. There will be times where you work more than 8 hours a day and have no days off. That depends a lot on you and how many cars you have out for the month

I get it when you said It's random everyday cuz we sure don't know if it'll be a good day for sale or not. But do you think there is a guaranteed or must thing to do which will bring more sales? Whenever I see salesguys who sell consistent 20-30cars every month, I kinda can't believe how they do that. My thought is that really depends on how popular brands are, how big cities are, and how broad a salesman's connection? Please leave your advice! Thanks for the great video

RoY ParK There's not much you can do. It kind of depends on your dealers reputation in a way. The best thing you can do is work your ass off when you have a customer in front of you. Treat them nicely and show them everything about the car. You have to sell the customer on you first and then the car.

I would love to work at a dealership but just hate how its such long hours for no reason. Honestly every dealership should close at a certain time and atleast by 6 or 7pm.
@TheArtbdw4 жыл бұрын
This is very true. Unless you can get in to a really good used car dealership (well established with sales consultants that stay there for 5, 10, 15yrs+ track record.... not the shady little wholesale lots) it’s not worth it. The good used car lots that are very far and few between these days where you can consistently make decent and very good commission vouchers, that will be worth your time and can provide for your family. If it’s new cars, you better get used to $100 per sale. Tough business, false hope. The customers benefit, the managers make bank, the dealer/owner makes millions, the bank/lender financing makes good, the warranty companies make good, even the trucking companies and drivers get paid decent to deliver vehicles to location.... and the salesman gets f*cked.

How is online sales?? I always see an ad for dealers looking for someone that can follow up leads online.
@dverdin556 жыл бұрын
Ashley C I did online sales. It's not that bad compared to floor sales. You will make slightly more commission than regular sales but that's because you can lose a lot more. Your job is to push units and that means you'll get a lot of mini deals or flat out losses. It's not a hard job. You will have to reach out to clients by phone and email and cold call new people. Be prepared to sit around a lot of the dealer is not a busy one and kiss your social life good bye

I'm not in the business but they yell at you to motivate you sometimes don't take it to heart everyone in that store wants money. But if you end up with a bad manager always doing it then I'd leave. Try it see if you like it you have nothing to lose unless you need to pay your bills fast but just live out of your means save your first couple of checks and see if it's still right for you probably after a couple months would move locations this is when other companies want you.

@ViolentMLG5 жыл бұрын
Ill give this advice to anyone. You don't need a HS Diploma for ANY JOB. On your resume put that you graduated from x school, x school being a high-school locally to you, and call it a day. NOBODY is calling high-schools or asking for evidence of a diploma. If they ask, just say you graduated x year at x school and again, move on. Most people won't even ask. Its really not important. It matters more when you say you DON'T have one because then the employers know.

2:30 minutes in...and I gotta say, if you have a bad month it's 100% your fault. Working for 5 years in the industry I can say I worked for multiple paying types of businesses and when I was at 25% commission with 250$ flats on new cars and 400$ flats on used my biggest month was 15 thousand dollars. After taxes it was 10k or something, and I average 11.5 cars a month over 6 months so when you say 5k a month is a lot of money that's not bad but also not true you should be able to make 500-1000$ per car. You can make doctor money as a car salesman and when you get to management it's 120k-160+ no problem. I wasn't even GREAT I was an ok salesman. This Asian dude who got promoted after like 3 months working at the dealership, his average was TWENTY ONE CARS PER MONTH!!!! He made easily 200k a year in that average. Also if you include business office spiffs or parts markup you can increase your profit margins and make more commission....I'll finish the video tho....
@dverdin556 жыл бұрын
Derek Hudson you are most certainly correct.... to an extent. I believe in "you get what you put in", however not every business is the same. In my case there wasn't a flat fee for cars. There were spiffs for cars yes but they did away with those really quick (shady dealer practices. Google sage auto group and their lawsuit). 5k in adult world money is certainly not a lot but for a college student with very little cash it is. Still not enough to live off of but if you add that up in savings over a year plus working adding more to the pile it sure goes a long way. I can go on and on but I won't be getting anywhere in doing so. I made this to give people an idea on what to expect. I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me because everyone will experience something different. I welcome more feedback from other salespeople in the comments to give more people a better idea of what to expect. No one really understands or sees what goes on behind the scenes with sales. It's best to get the word out
@derekhudson34156 жыл бұрын
@@dverdin55 yeah for sure. Didnt mean to sound like i was hating on your video. I worked for a shady dealer before to. They paid out 250$ flats ONLY and i think 150 for used. And business spiffs were always only like 20$ max. They tend to be the dealerships that force their salespeople to work from 8am to 9pm 6 days a week also. The great dealership where i worked at, hours were 9am to 3pm but you had open floor if you wanted to stay longer, for the guys who wanted to hustle. Everyone hates salesman, all the managers at each store are all assholes and treat you like garbage no matter what your numbers are. You stand around for hours doing nothing most of the time, you have to deal with other salesman skating your deals and you lose money. This business is ruthless. Unless you have iron skin and have a true mentality of “I’m here for work not friends” then stay away. Every customer lies to you from beginning to end. Hours like he said are long and hard. I’ve worked 15 hour shifts and my longest week was 63 hours. I’ve dealt with management not paying me my gross pay when I know there was gross on a deal.
