I wanted to see you guys live this year, but I'm not going to because I've caught very bad ear issues. I've got constant tinnitus and high sensitivity to noise because of problems related to stress and anxiety, and because of that I can't listen to as much music as I used to, but you're one of the bands that I kept listening to because your music makes me feel better. I love what you're doing, and I hope I'll get better one day and I'll be able to see you live, because that's one of my dreams and you're making me feel a bit better when I need it. And sorry for saying that here, I know it's not the best place but it's not easy and I need to talk it out sometimes.

Take care of your hearing. I've been dealing with the issue for 15 years. Music was my life as I started in metal, playing guitar. Listened to hip hop learning drum sequencing. Moved to Electronic music learned DJing and music production. I had to stop as even when I DJ it got to the point I couldn't hear the frequencies properly. I hope you recover. It's taken many years and I only hearing ringing in absolute quiet now. But the brain fog that comes with it is almost crippling. Best wishes. I hope you are able to see this band. I've never heard of them but this song is amazing.

I think DVNE are onto something with their albums and their concepts. All invoking an atmosphere, an environment and mankind's reaction in line with human nature. Progenitor was about space in an environment and timeline withouthumans or life as we know it. The beginning of the universe in a sense. Their universe. The came the Asheran. A biblical story of a people in a desert environment who witness the coming of alien life. Their way of understanding what's going on, how to interact and respond with thing they don't yet understand. A great way to set up a world but leave it vague enough for interpretation. Man's introduction to the unknown. Then comes their best album according to most fans, Etemen Aenka. Whether there are aliens involved or not, there are definitely people who make most of their environment and time. A world where humans are modified into godhood and power and money drive their hierarchy. A world where you can have people grow merciless with power, the weak minded people giving into addiction, the resilient people who do math and survive, the people who just want lives and try to stick to the system etc. Si-XIV especially (I call it Silicon because it's what it is) paints a vivid picture of the people. An album making commentary on the relationship between man and technology. And now we have Voidkind. A commentary on the relationship between man and religion. An environment that invokes a mix of Tibet mountaintop height of zen and power, a bit of western cult imagery with lyrics mentioning "heathens" and borderline inhuman religious practices, and even bits and pieces of other religions like Hinduism and Buddhism invoking pilgrimages and seeking divine wisdom, bits of Abrahamic beliefs like temples and communities and group rituals and monotheism with everyone praying for one singular entity that can only reveal itself as a floating sphere. The whole album is amazingly paced as well. Starmatae makes a great "midpoint" of the album with two short tracks before and after itself (Path to Dust and Path to Ether) and paints a great setting with its atmospheric melodies. Eleonora and Pleroma are also two tracks that come as the second from the first and second from the last track of the album respectively, both invoking a sense of journeys with goals. Eleonora the beginning of the trek with an inquisitive fear and sense of wonder and Pleroma that sense of peaceful understanding and a sense of finality, of accomplishment of reaching a height that is strived towards. And what a great album closer Cobalt Sun Necropolis is. Just the name man. Wow. Such a bleak picture of a sun dying, losing light until it glows blue, decaying everything around it. Even the ending of the song sounds like a crumbling building like we're hearing this destruction while it's happening. Amazing sound design on the this entire album. I honestly cannot wait to see what they do with their next album. These guys are truly DiViNE (I'll walk myself out lol)

@abrarkadabrar78294 ай бұрын
My understanding of what makes post metal is the guitar tone. Or rather the tone and atmosphere created by the instruments. Most post metal and post rock music I've heard such as God Is An Astronaut and The Ocean Collective both have similar guitar tones where it's very overdriven but kinda hushed, along with a very audible bass tone. Whether or not they sing harsh or clean, the vocals also feel very unprocessed and raw. Most of the time this makes it so that most of these songs played live share little to no variation from the studio version. Such as the live version of Omega Severer by DVNE, at least over the Spotify sound quality, there are very few notable differences I could pick up between the live version and the studio version, maybe just more graininess on the studio version and slightly louder vocal tracks in the live versions, but the guitar tone and instrumentation is all consistent. That's just my understanding of the genre, I'm at still learning so I could be entirely wrong.

First question: how do you pronounce it? I'm assuming it's a Latin U which makes it DUNE. Anyway this is a quality moody atmospheric Prog Metal tune, with an interesting theme and good musicianship and a coherent structure of five movements, the first being a slow-build intro, and the fourth is a prolonged bridge. The production is ok but the separation is crude - it's all left or right rather than a spread across the speakers. Nevertheless the quality shines through and it's a must for the Prog Metal playlist. My Score: Very Good 4*
@tattie3215 ай бұрын
The reason for the left and right is in the description, its leans more to the live sound as Dvne are a live band first and a recording band 2nd. Fantastic live, try catch a gig 👍
