@@jansnauwaert1785 He has a penchant for french composers like Debussy, Ravel ,& Mozart & Dvorak besides singing nursery rhymes & wolf-whistling! He doesn’t really talk but has perfect pitch so ignores me if I don’t whistle in the correct key😊 I used to be a muso… He sits still with his crest raised & really listens, or dances to his favourite dotted rhythm. So no joke!🕊️J C in Australia

This Violin Concerto is considered one of the masterpieces of Dvořák’s so-called Slavic period. It was written in close proximity to his first series of Slavonic Dances and the Slavonic Rhapsodies and Symphony No. 6 with which it shares its compelling folkloric melodies and overall positive expression. In his stylisation of the violin part the composer makes the most of the instrument’s lyricism, while again suggesting his sense of the full, resonant symphonic sound. The piece is one of Dvořák’s most popular and most frequently performed works and is today an essential part of the violin repertoire. Blessed are those who hear him. *Lucien*

Einfach wunderbar!

This is a very different interpretation than I am used to in the Dvorak and I must say I greatly admire Mr Tetzlaff’s sheer power in his sound. It seems as well that he cares more about the overall phrase than he does individual notes in the runs, which I do find quite refreshing.
@nicolasdelaforge742011 күн бұрын
Never thought of this in Symphoic music, always thought they did care about the overall phrase, as in Opera. It is a-more accomplished artist who can do this.
@muppet010 күн бұрын
@ of course the great violinists all aspire to produce a sustained sound like a vocalist, but my point was that there are some violinists that are more nitpicky about the details and willing to sacrifice the view of the overall phrase to achieve certain details

This is a fiendishly difficult concerto. I wonder if Dvorak knew what he was doing.

@@violinhunter2Do you mean whether Dvořak knew how to compose music or whether he knew how difficult it would be to play?😮
@violinhunter27 күн бұрын
@@darcyperkins7041 ...whether he knew how difficult it would be to play. I would rather try Tchaikovsky than this. Dvorak was a great (and inspired) composer who (it seems) wrote effortlessly.

Thanks a´lot for the recording! What a great orchestra and a great conductor! I am a little disappointed with Mr. Tetzlaff. Unfortunately, his intonation and sound are not at all convincing. Especially in the last movement you can hear many technical problems that he tries to cover up with a lot of bow pressure. That`s sad, because he is a very good chamber musician.
@Nk-yu1rpАй бұрын
I think he is trying to be loud enough in this shite sounding hall
@ChamMansourАй бұрын
On my part, I can scarcely recognize him as he whose rendition of the Mozart violin concertos I deemed wondrous. Had none else pointed the erroneous intonation out, in my shock I could have dismissed the matter as that of my having heard too few performances to judge… But NO; it seems that professionals ARE inclined to disappoint with this overly-domesticated self-confidence of some.
