Andrew, very nice review indeed. Couple of points that are worth noting. 1) As with most stabs of this kind you do not need to use a Y lead on the ailerons. You can use (say) channel 5 or 6 direct from the receiver for the second aileron. The KoPilot will only stabilise one aileron but this is perfectly adequate for most models. I have used it with other stabs which do not have internal mixing for dual ailerons. It also works with my Kopilot. 2) I'm sure the 70ft RTH height is not AGL but Above launch point height. There is no way the Kopilot can allow for changes in ground level without a radio altimeter or internal terrain map so you might run into trouble if you expect it to work in hilly terrain. John

@theoztreecrasher26472 жыл бұрын
@@johnsheehy6172 I don't know but it's probable that the GPS unit will treat the point at which it acquires more than 6 satellites as the Home Point as long as it has Vcc and Ground continuously applied to it. The Kopilot unit will operate on that Home Point when it is receiving the information via the GPS Tx/Rx connections. So your set-up just might work by using ch6-AUX to operate an RC switch to connect or break the Tx? line. You would need to set the receiver to failsafe ch6 to re-connect when signal is lost.

Hi! Great video. Questions: 1. My wing flies well in normal mode. It flies also well in stab mode but I have almost no control in this mode. The travel of Ail and Ele is much less in this mode, almost nothing. Why? Using a frsky taranis q7. 2. For the throttle to work on my controller I have to inverse it (weight -100 on Taranis). 3. I cannot calibrate the plane (sticks inside and down). The green leds won't flash after 5 seconds. Thanks.
@AndrewNewton4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Martin. I have a video showing all the setup and problems coming soon. 1. That is the way Kopilot works and I agree there is not enough control in stabilise mode. Need to increase the throws mechanically by changing which hole the pushrods connect to, then reducing the weights just for manual mode switch position. 2. That is weird. Have you inverted Ch3 in the Outputs page? 3. To use the stick command method of level calibration you must have 100 weight on Ch1 Ail, Ch2 Ele, Ch3 Thr and Ch4 Rud and no throttle cut activated. Kopilot does the level cal automatically when you plug the battery in so maybe dont bother with the stick command method. Must be in Stabilise mode (not RTH)

Sorry mate, I don't know what you have on your Tx/Rx pair but, for a standard AETR system (Futaba, Flysky) You plug the 4-pin PWM connector into the Rx signal outputs 1 to 4 (with the white wire into no1 - Aileron) and the 3-pin connector into channel 5 signal/power/ground group. Love my Ranger G2...amazing distance, even on a 2200 3S...F405 wing FC...UHF and long range video...Great plane. I'm assuming you set the RX to Failsafe into the RTH setting... With a bit of mid throttle to bring it back..?
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
I only set the RTH switch in Failsafe, nothing else. Throttle seems to be controlled by the board in a failsafe.

Hi Andrew, Do you know if I can mix differential thrust on this FC? I'm making a massive twin motor with landing gear without any wheel steering. Do you know if it won't bug-out and support this mix?
@AndrewNewton4 жыл бұрын
Dont know really. You might have to be the pioneer and let us know if it works.

@@AndrewNewton Hey man! - I eventually didn't install the Kopilot on my ''Twin Giant'' design to test the differential. But the aircraft turned out pretty darn good! Even Ed himself from EA positively reacted to the flight video! I hope you'll check it out.

Thanks for nice video. When throw the plane with rth mode, do I should put the throttle stick up or just leave it bottom position? Another question is, Can we still control the throttle during flight on rth and stabilized mode?
@AndrewNewton4 жыл бұрын
Throttle has to be up a bit for RTH launch. Cant control the throttle in RTH mode, but yes you can in stab mode
@RCstagram4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Newton thank you so much. Whatif the gps can’t find satelites in indoor? Can I control still control the throttle stick in stab mode? In my caee, I can’t control my throttle stick in stab mode indoor. Even though I pull it up, the motor does not spin. Is this expected?
@theoztreecrasher26474 жыл бұрын
@@RCstagram Motor won't start in Stabilize Mode without GPS lock. Motor will run in Manual Mode without GPS lock. In RTH Mode (with GPS lock) the motor won't start unless the plane is moving at more than 4m/s. NOTE!! The 4m/s is the Ground Speed as measured by the GPS unit. SO!! If you are in RTH and the ground speed drops under that for any reason (unlikely but has happened to at least 1 pilot) the motor will stop!

Hi I brought the dart 250g and I want to know can I reverse my servos or channels I have the kopilot. Thanks 😊
@AndrewNewton3 жыл бұрын
Reverse movement in your radio and reverse stabilisation using the Kopilot pots

Hi Andrew, congratulations on your channel. I have a kopilot, why are movements in stabilized mode so limited compared to manual mode? Is there a possibility of increasing them to make the wing more agile? thanks greetings
@AndrewNewton4 жыл бұрын
That's just the way it is. Need to increase your throws so that manual flying is good at 50% rates then program 100% rate for stabilised modes.
@quiquemsa4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andrew, I am 100% stabilized, I still do not have a good response in stabilized, when I have lower gains I have more aileron travel and it is more agile worse it does not stabilize well, it jumps, I cannot find the balance between well stabilized and more aileron control and depth. perhaps ZOHD should consider the possibility of better adjusting this problem. thanks greetings

Mr. Newton is there anyway you can show how the Fail Safe in the QX7 looks like under the Custom settings I know it needs to be -100 on Channel 5 just not sure if I have it correctly setup. Thanks!!!!

Andrew Newton According to your picture on your community, throttle is half which means the throttle stick is middle. Do we have to set it -100 or 0 like yours?

Hi Andrew thanks for the video! I'm going to have a go at auto launch mode, so it's RTH mode with the throttle stick 80% to %100? Also when the gps has got a fix is this the RTH location? cheers
@AndrewNewton3 жыл бұрын
Kopilot takes control of throttle in RTH mode (and autolauch), as long as it's not on zero. Home position is where GPS acquires enough satellites.

G'day Andrew Thanks for the instruction; good to see that your experiment was used on something that you would not mind destroying, I don't have that luxury. I have been looking at the ZOHD Kopilot and your Favourite F405 for one of my 1600mm Volantex. They are almost the same price at the moment!! Which would you recommend for newbie FPV 1-2k flying? Cheers.

Hello Andrew. Great video once again. Listen bud I am setting up a new nano talon EVO with Kop_Pilot and I am wanting to get the failsafe settings correct. What I need to know is when I am in my failsafe custom settings what do we do with the throttle. I ask this cause once channel 5 RTH is initiated I would think the kopilot will be controlling throttle as if we engaged RTH by switch. Please let me know how the failsafe on open tx should be setup. Thanks in advance buddy_ Joe
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
Kopilot handles the throttle so you dont need to set it in the custom failsafe setup. Here's photo of the failsafe screen kzbin.infoUgy99qSI7mOi5_1US894AaABCQ

Thanks for another nice video Andrew. This setup provides RTH and RTL features in addition to what S6R or S8R has? Or is there any knife edge gyro kind of support available? Also appreciate if you could share a video for complete S6R or S8R setup with X9D or point me to one if already exists

Thanks for an interesting and informative video, I have watched it several times. I have ordered a Kopilot and currently awaiting it's delivery. As you mentioned that it could be used with the FlySky i6 system a video of the setup for this would be good. My 6B r/x has both IBus and SBus so that should work out OK. Once set up using 100% throws can you then setup hi and lo rates in the t/x?
@AndrewNewton4 жыл бұрын
Yes that would be the best way Robert. 50% for manual and 100% for stabilised.
