Dwarf Conifers - The Conifer Collector Showcase

Dwarf conifers are popular due to their evergreen nature, compact size, and unique appearance. In this video, five dwarf conifers are highlighted:
1. Picea pungens 'Blue Pearl': A very compact blue spruce cultivar, growing only about a foot tall even after 10 years. It’s ideal for small spaces and containers, hardy in zones 3-7.
2. Picea glauca 'Pixie Dust': This small, conical conifer reaches about 1.5 feet tall and wide. It features contrasting yellow new growth, making it perfect for fairy gardens. Available both as a low graft and on a standard.
3. Pinus koraiensis 'Gee Broom': A dense, rounded dwarf Korean pine that grows to about 2.5-3 feet tall and wide. Known for its bluish-green color and tight habit, it’s excellent for colder climates (zones 2-8) and containers.
4. Picea glauca 'Icebreaker': A dense, rounded dwarf spruce with unique backward-curved silver needles. This plant is dramatic and striking but requires protection from high humidity and heat. Best in well-drained soil.
5. Picea orientalis 'Tom Thumb': A slow-growing, yellow conifer that stays around 2 feet tall. It’s available on standards for a lollipop effect and adds vibrant color to small spaces.
These dwarf conifers are well-suited for various garden settings, from miniature landscapes to containers. They thrive in well-drained soil and cold climates, offering year-round interest.

These videos are so helpful. It can be hard to find specific things on your website. You should really consider giving your website some love to make it easier to find things.

Specifically, If the filtering was broken up into category so you could select multiple filters, it would be really helpful. It's hard to choose a zone 7 evergreen plant or shade tolerant conifer. You kind of just have to pick one thing to filter by. With how many plants you have that often gives tons and tons of options. What you're looking for can be lost in all the noise if you are looking for something specific.

Love all the info helps me know what I can or can’t grow in my zone , but if conifer is too unbelievably awesome I buy it anyways and many have done really well . In shade of coarse

Great video. Planning a patio container garden of just dwarf trees (hopefully some conifers). Hearing a lot of vids about trees that are great in cold climates, but what about ones that will thrive in hot, humid climates? We're in Middle Tennessee, Zone 6, with 10 degree winters and 90 degree, 90% humidity summers. Trees will be overwintering outside in pots.

Almost everything we do does great in this condition. We are zone 6b here in WNC outside winters work best in this zone also

#japanesemaples dwarf conifers scare me especially spruces here in zone 7b haven’t had much luck with dwarf conifers, I have one gold hinoki and one mugo pine left that’s actually thriving for now surprisingly, have had more bad luck that good luck. So very skeptical about picking them up anymore. It’s just this dang heat/humidity I think it’s just kryptonite for some conifers here. Great video as always and always very interesting. 💯🔥💯🔥

Are you guys propagating "Douglas Fir Torquis" yet? Iseli nursery seems to be the only source but they are not retail. I had one absolutely thrive four years then died suddenly in Aug. 2020. A vole ate all it's roots off! Little stinker. I learned about castor oil too late. I would love to try again.
