Am i the only one that can't wait for adventure mode, just to make a Dwarf travelling merchant and explore the world from the perspective of someone not very combat savvy, that mines and makes jewelry to sell them towns over? ^^ Honestly, the sheer roleplaying potential that the new gem clusters in the cave layer hold now have rekindled some primal form for excitement in me. I just hope so dearly that the steam edition Adventure mode will take a note from CDDA when it comes to interacting with the world on a material level. Thank you lot for continously working on this absolute gem

It sound really hype, but people in previous version didn't connected any dots and They did not even remember what was buy/sold, so… yeah, it was nice experience, but quite boring, because people didn't know/remember anything. And you feel how Their memories was borked really much.

Do you know if they're adding more crafting to the steam version when it first releases? The ASCII version had pretty limited crafting, you could only craft from bones and wood really haha. It would be sick if they added weapon/armour/jewel with the initial release, with the other crafting types coming later.

@@Xenomorphasized Unfortunately i don't know if they plan on implementing any kind of advanced crafting beyond what was in the ASCII version, crafting is only mentioned in title on the roadmap but it do not say much about what will be available. So we can only hope for the best! ^^

I bought Dwarf Fortress when it released on Steam, but have yet to play it. However, I have watched hundreds of hours of people like Kruggsmash and Blind play it and share their stories. Table top roleplaying aside, Dwarf Fortress is the king of story games.

It's fairly straightforward, most need to know things are on KZbin as guides. Only thing I struggled a little bit with was automation like clothing etc but that's just me being dumb tbh lol

Adventure Mode is mostly only the reason I play Dwarf Fortress, bought it when it first came out on steam _naturally_. SO HYPED!!! :D Adventure Mode is literally _SO DEEP_. The world of dwarf fortress is really, really rich. Deep lore can be discovered for those who can conquer those goblins

Once it's released, I'm gonna get Dwarf Fortress. It's literally the only reason I've ever wanted to play the game. Base building gets boring. Everyone loves Rimworld but me. It's not a bad game by any means. I'm just not capable of having fun in sandboxes. After my first colony, I didn't have any idea how to play other than a farming sim like my first colony

@semmel For sure! To be honest, adventure mode gives no tell on how to really engage with it. You find your own story, and impact the world history. It entirely hinges on talking to the NPCs and telling them stories/talking to them, and bringing companions. You can get pretty involved with beast slaying, or creating and finding artifacts, as well as even assembling a band! You can find random instruments, and learn to play music and stories. The rumor system is so beautiful in adventure mode, because it actually requires the NPCs to go around and tell stories to eachother about you. Also, all of the hidden fun stuff. There is actually a grand adventure of sorts if you learn the right knowledge in the game. There is a reason there is always 7 dark fortresses, and I highly encourage to go figure it out. Hidden vaults, tablets that unlock 'magic'. The process of leveling up relevant skills, and going on the adventure to enslave a deity that roams the land from the time before time Just like fortress mode, if you die, the history (you told) is marked in the minds and thoughts of the NPCs. Even it's possible to pick an outsider and settle into the economy at your fortress. You can go hunting and sell the parts for currency in the market and trade. I once made a cabin with a goal to become as rich as possible between trading civilizations. I eagerly, eagerly await this update, as fundamentally it will now tell you how to engage with it, and people will see easier how wildly free the dwarf fortress world is, and also the baked in lore to every generated world
