The irony of goblins is that despite their origin just like God blessed demons, you often come across alot of nature contradictory creatures and not impossible to come across some pretty friendly folks, including necromancer monsters, its quite wholesome really

A Tavern would be a great idea and honestly should be a high priority thing; on the off hand chance that it causes the goblins to stop being considered hostile and allows them to join your Fortress officially. Really the main priority should be to figure out how to get those goblins on your side and officially part of your fortress, they would be good allies to have and it removes the possibility that they could potentially become actually hostile and try and wipe the fortress out. As a whole getting them on your side should be a major priority because while you may be currently at peace with their civilization, the game has a habit of setting at least one goblin civilization to be at war with the player and the last thing you want is it to be the one they belong to especially with the necromantic creatures as part of their side considering that one of them could easily kill all your dwarves if provoked never underestimate the undead creatures in this game that aren't zombies they can easily destroy fortresses, I've seen thralls from the terrifying biomes destroy two fortresses and in one case it was just a single thrall that did it. So yeah getting the other residents on your side should be priority number 1 after getting the basics set up.

From my experience with a kobold warren on the map with my fort - those units will always be "Hostile" - but not have any driving desires. They won't go out of their way to fight you, but they'll fight stuff like forgotten beasts that come into sight. Eventually they get extremely bored with their lives with no goals and start going melancholic. My kobolds are one by one tripping into their own traps and pits.

The necromancers might be neutral or even friendly to your people, but when he/she occasionally decides to raise a corpse, as necromancers do, the corpse is going to be hostile to every living creature. Unless it is raised as a revenant, they tend to keep their personality and loyalty after being raised.

Great idea for a playthrough mind you I'd prefer more of hour long sessions if there to be short. Priority wise after Booze and Bites I'd like to suggest a top to bottom cleanup and scavenger push with the secondary focus to secure all areas so if things go sour the few have the ability to hunker down. As well that may as well provide greater InSite as to the future steps of expansion exportation and pop growth

"Dwarves have been gone from the area for centuries. The goblins had moved in and inhabited the fortress and were always struck in awe of the art and carvings of the ancient 'dwarves'... But on an early Spring in 2078, 7 dwarves returned and took on the legacy of the ancient lost. The goblin's inhabiting the ruins, followed and watched the new creatures, fascinated that the ancient ones had returned to their glorious work. They stayed out of their way and watched from the shadows with awe and fascination."

"After a few weeks of watching the dwarves feverishly work, the goblins were in awe. Their work had really brought a new life to the place. After awhile, the Dwarves seemed to get angry. They began throwing away garbage food. Apparently, spoilage isn't their favorite, the goblins may have let the place go a bit. But then they began throwing away the saved body parts of the goblin ancestors, burning them all."
@bab427 Жыл бұрын
"Rage sprung out, many still clung to the dwarves, calling their actions holy and righteous. Others saw them taking their home. Fights among the goblins broke out and many died. The Dwarves searched over the war scene with indifference and began throwing them away too. Then, more dwarves moved in."

I had a similar reclamation with a few dozen goblin all following the same dwarven religion and all with religious job titles so I had focused on a temple and tavern very early, unfortunately no one ever asked to join. I'm uncertain if it was due to the mayor being the tavern keeper or not. after we were upgraded to a barony I changed the tavern keeper and had a human ask to reside shortly after.

Seems you've got the magma access all sorted already, so after rebuilding the library how about some magma-based defences to ensure the library never falls again and to wreak revenge upon the perpetrators of old? Though fire and libraries hasn't historically been the best combination…
@DiamantDogma Жыл бұрын
Just for your Information. If you reclaim a Ruin like here and you want the Items that are everywhere just unforbiding is not enought,your Dwarfs have to interact with them to be claimed. So the easiest way is to unforbid them and then mark them as Dump and create a Dumping Zone right next to it. Now you have to unforbid the hauled Items once again and your Dwarfs can use them (like puting on a full Set of Armor f.E.)

Why are bags better than barrels for seeds? I've heard you mention it in a few videos but haven't heard the reasoning. The only thing I can think of is it *might* stop some of the 'job item misplaced' errors because dwarves taking out bags FROM barrels? If I'm off please let me know.

This is perfect KZbin content with a great length and nice editing! I tried looking through legends mode for a story and found it daunting. Do you take notes and look for factions?
@LeifMaelstrom Жыл бұрын
You have to be slightly obsessive or slightly hyper attentive. Either way you have to learn to be cool with the format and how to extract data from it without getting bored.

I went and tried this too after seeing the video. The stockpile under the trade depot was full of arms and armor. I tried a lot of different things after unforbidding the loot but my dwarfs would not equip any of it. The armor did not say "large" and the weapons were just generic. Any thoughts on what I did wrong? I tried using the no uniform, the metal uniform, creating a uniform and then training to see if that would work.

So many awkward bugs around reclaiming fortresses! I've had the same thing in my current game. Just a heads-up, you may run into issues later with phantom rooms/locations you can't see, change, or delete but that the game treats as being there. Biggest issue I've had with that was that I couldn't have any corpses buried in one of those rooms because the tomb zones were overlapping with it.
@BlindiRL Жыл бұрын
Oh trust me, I'm aware. Been here done that many times. This ain't my first reclaim.

I find the pre-generated forts really really boring. They are very unrealistic. If a player tried building one the same way their fort wouldn't last long. The resources in their stocks are all wrong too. I imagine it's not a priority for Bay12 to make them better yet, but it just makes me not want to engage with reclaiming. Also the spiral walkways are death-traps. As soon as a single crundle climbs from the caverns, you'll have plenty of dwarves and animals falling to their deaths because they tried to dodge an attack
