Jim…. I am LOVING these conifer videos ❤️❤️❤️. Keep them coming!!! I would love to hear about some spruces we can grow in the heat and humidity of Kentucky zone 6B. I am in love with the weeping white spruce but not sure it could handle our summers. Thanks for these great videos 😁❤️

Two weeks ago in October we bought one at a local nursery on sale for $69 (from $125) and is about two feet tall. I always wanted a Nana Gracilis Hinoki dwarf cypress so I didn't think about it twice. We love the deep green color and unusual shape. Thank goodness for your advice, we prepared the soil with pine bark plus added some coarse perlite to our clayish soil as well as mounded it up. After several expensive plants died on us from root rot, we feel more confident now!

Jim - love your videos - much more helpful than others. Please please pretty please create one on growth characteristics of slender hinoki cypress AND how to prune them if they need to be kept to a certain width/height. I hear prunning is necessary only when they are outgrowing their space. Also please explain if and how to prune if the top leader begins to fork assuming one straight leader is desired over two. Thank you very much.

Loving the videos!!! I’m in the Pacific Northwest and I have seen some of those hinoki’s over 20’... but these are trees that are 30+ years💐💐💐... Chamaecyparis... such a great plant

Such a great idea for this new channel Jim! but I live up in the zone 4b and I don’t see any playlist for my zone. Will you be adding any plants and playlist for my zone? It’s so hard to find good plants for us northern gardeners!! I have been following your main KZbin channel for years now and really appreciate the super informative content.

We purchased some Crippsii Hinoki because they are stunning a d we were told they would top out at 15’ by 5’-6’ wide. We have since found out the Crippsii will grow to 40’!!! And 20’ wide!! We didn’t plant them for those final sizes 😡 thank goodness we have a larger piece of property.

I have one Hinoki Cypress and would like to move it to a different spot, it’s been in the same place for at least 10 years. Is it sage to move it?
@rosiesingleton64802 жыл бұрын
I wish my Hinoki Cypress was a dwarf …….mine is a “Cirppsii”. It’s planted where I would only want it to grow 6 ft. Unfortunately I’ve found out it can get 10 - 15 ft 😳. Think I can prune it to specific height, or totally move it ?

How you mound the soil? We have clay and lots of water in Ohio and need to learn to do that for some of my plants.

This looks very similar to the Jade Waves Fernspray false cypress I just got. It's by Monrovia. The tag says it can get 6-8' tall. Jim, is it the same or different?
@allydaley77062 жыл бұрын
Very similar, but that's a different cultivar (variation). It looks like Jade Waves has more fern-like foliage, very pretty! It also looks like the care instructions are the same as this Hinoki Cypress 👍

Unfortunately the tittle of the video is misleading. This is obtusa Nana Gracilis, not an Obtusa Nana. Got an Obtusa Nana and just grows 1 to 2 feet 😫. I" ve needed to get the Nana Gracilis.
