Julieta is 14 years old and rescues turtles as a volunteer on Curaçao in the Caribbean. The island off the coast of Venezuela is feeling the impact of climate change and pollution. Julieta is moved to take action.
The teenager is fearless when it comes to saving animals. Turtles are an endangered species. Warming oceans are fueling algae growth, as are fertilizers flushed into the sea from Brazil. The turtles come up for air, and get entangled in the bloom. Julieta and her fellow activists from an island conservancy group are committed to saving as many turtles as they can. Their efforts are backed by veterinarian Odette Doest and her emissary for conservancy, Bob the flamingo.

I know many of the people in this film. I used to be a bit involved with sea turtle conservation curaçao in the beginning. They do an absolutely good job. Some people really give it their all to save or make it better for the local wildlife and pets.

All the turtles, flamingos, and all the other animals are so nice and precious. They deserve to be saved and protected. It is so sad that they are endangered because of human beings' bad habits.

We need courageous and committed individuals like these as life on Earth gets harder because of climate disasters. A quote from the book *The Great Waves of Change* by Marshall Vian Summers - "Do not worry that others are not responding. Do not concern yourself that humanity remains ignorant and indulgent and foolish in its conquests and its conflicts. For the calling is for you. You have to take responsibility for your life and for your reasons for being here. The calling is for you. You do not need a consensus with others to respond. In fact, you will not have such a consensus. You may be the only person you know who is responding. Even if this is the case, you must respond." (if anyone wants to read the whole book you can search the name and get it for free)

Seaweed was also in Florida keys and other Caribbean islands not just Curacao. Little is mentioned how toxic sunscreen and lotions affect negatively the coral reefs that also contribute to the tumors in sea animals. Otherwise good work to all the people that make a difference to improve the environment of sea life on the island.

Trash on islands comes from everywhere. It's carried by currents and tides.. All rivers lead to the oceans. Most of the trash is not thrown away on beaches but in cities. There's also LOTS of fishing gear.

I have a cat, sick at the moment and named Solo. I will release him to the ocean when he is cured too. I am so inspired :) Joke is a relief to see how we change the world to the harsh for these sea creatures to move on. It is so touchy to see people are doing tremendous effort to revert it. Thank goodness as the Richard Dawkins says...

I have a garden and try to make it as much as possible favourable for beneficial not only to insects but other animals too. I really love when i see animals nibbleing on my viggies, birds eating seeds from sunfloers. i really love that.

Curacao and the climated change. Turquia sea is considered a paradise destine, by the shores and wildlife . Venezuela is a country damaged by the climate change Curasao is a paradise shore, but finds treated, by the pollution, there are activist contributing and doing something, for rescue a little the wild life, rescuiting the turttle, and taking out the sargasse, It's almost impossible do it. Because all the shores are covered with garbasse, which do almost impossible localize the turttles. There is a team working with this one. The tortles own tumors in its face and body, as result of the over pollution. . Other one is the flaming. As a part of the education, is to visit the schools, with some animals, which belong the wildlife, waking up this way, the motivación inside the children, trying, that they understand, valor, respect and keep in good conditions the ecosystem. The activists require donations in order to continue helping in the rescue programs of the wildlife. . Sometimes the tourists are witnees, how are liberate the turttles and other one's. Teaching and sharing with the children the importance to keep clean and free of pollution our ecosystem and wildlife.

@DegreesOfThree 3 жыл бұрын
@Ryan Jachtmann Humans didn't didn't create kelp. There's no such thing as homeostasis on Earth. The climate is always changing. Ice ages and mass extinctions are the rule, not the exception. If it weren't for the industrial revolution, we would still be eating turtle soup, like the natives.
