The other questions is if there are so many gangs, fighting each other, and killing citizens it means the market is worth it; the european population is indeed consuming these drugs. So the common guy is also to be blamed. No market, no drug dealing.

The willingness of cartels to take lives raises the question of why authorities do not adopt a more decisive approach against them, rather than expending resources on lengthy prosecutions. While law enforcement employs gentle measures, the leaders of these organizations resort to extreme violence.

Because its not that easy, its not as simple as you might think, and explaining my own level of understanding as a South American would take too long, but basically, its because people in the government are involved and sometimes even help run these crime groups, every hitman, young men and women that are the footsoldiers work for a guy, that works for a guy, that works for a guy that works for a guy. Whoever is the leader of all those people is powerfull, this entity takes form in big anonymous Narcos, Politicians, foreign or local mining companies, shady busisness men or a foreign intelligence agency 😏 The extreme violence is a tactic, made to scare everyone, to send a message. To keep people in fear, to keep them from fighting back, corruption ovbiously escalates the problems. Since you can't go to the authorities if your family member or friend was a victim of extreme violence. Cocaine is profitable not just to LATAM nations but also foreign nations including the US and China. Could even be used as an indirect attack, like the obvious push for Chinese companies to sell fentanyl and other substances/chemicals to Cartels. And it wouldn't surprise me if the US military was growing and selling opioids in the middle east, but I think that's a stretch. Now, it would be a problem if the governments (who facilitate alot of this violence and cartel expansion) started being alot more violent and "decisive", right? Or do you honestly believe that "decisive" violence wouldn't spill into the civilian world? (It already happens)

26:00 It is important to note that this spread is due to a lot of ATMs in NL being specifically designed to be resistant to such attacks, and most of NL being a fairly cash-free society. Meaning that the loot per ATM is quite low. Meanwhile, in Germany cash is still used a lot in circulation, and the ATMs are not yet prepared for suck types of attacks. Hence it is shooting fish in a barrel for such criminals, and they prefer to go over the border, cracking ATMs there rather than in NL.

@phoenixrambles17 күн бұрын
Waging war on drugs does not work. How many times do we have to make this mistake? No matter how much you try to stop drugs from entering the country or punish those who distribute them, it will always be impossible to stop drugs because as long as there is any trade or travel in and out of the country, it will always be possible to smuggle drugs in. The only effective way to stop drug violence is through economic measures. Legalization takes away the profit potential of drugs. If drugs are not highly profitable then criminals will not smuggle them and commit violence to defend their markets. While illegal, the huge profit margins on drugs means that even if the majority of their smuggled drugs are caught, the drug trade will STILL be profitable. To drug lords, drug seizures are simply a cost of doing business. And even if enough drugs are seized that it does begin to significantly cut into profits, the drug lords will simply increase the cost of their drugs, and since their buyers are addicted they will pay whatever the drugs cost. All that does is shift the financial cost of the war on drugs onto the people most harmed by it, the addicts. In addition to being the ONLY way to effectively stop illegal drug trade and drug violence, legalization allows the government to regulate drugs which is proven to significantly reduce harm. The government can do things like set limits on drug purity and ensure they are not laced with other drugs, which are both proven to reduce the addictiveness and harm of drugs. Legalizing drugs also allows the huge sums of money currently spent on drug enforcement to be rerouted to addiction services, which is also proven to decrease drug use. Most people addicted to drugs do not want to be addicted, and if stigma free, accessible, and affordable treatment was available they would take it.

Very interesting insight. I think however that Singapore has managed to eradicate drug trafficking by applying death sentence to smugglers. In the past it was used as a trade hub for other Eastern Asian countries, when the then-PM decided to take a harsher approach which has substancially decreased the number of drug users as a result. I can't say that is the right approach, I just wanted to show one case of seemingly effective "war on drugs". I believe China and Japan are also very hard on dealers

Apparently, people are saying that the "anti-drug politicians" are actually "funded" by the cartels without realising it. Because, if Germany starts legalisation, it would be bad for the cartel's businesses. The cartel's money flows into religion groups that then backed up anti-legalisation measures. Cartel members are oddly close to religion groups.
@PointmanOps17 күн бұрын
😅 Look at Canada then think again. They're after the money. They're not gonna go get a job a s stop producing drugs just because you legalized it. I just began watchin 28 seconds ago. And I already bet that I will see the torture container again. Obviously the press has no news and always relies to the same old content. And really. At 15:53 it is. Boring.

Nothing wrong with a little cultural diversity... eh? In less than 10 years Germany has been turned upside down over the cocaine trade. Ask yourself, What did we do within the last 10 years to cause this to ourselves? How could we be so stupid?
