I could be wrong, but I feel all you really need are those triggers inside the drums as well as mesh heads and you can convert any acoustic to an electric. Those triggers may just be the wireless component that syncs to the program on your laptop to disperse the sounds. But they only come with DW drums...

Good luck getting Roland or Dw to go anywhere but up . Even as new acoustic and electronic drums are coming out all of the time . The Rolands and Dw's must be selling . Nobody stays in business losing money!

@@mikalroyhansen9586realistic answer. They want to milk the customers as much as possible. I hope that for THIS price Tag the product will fail. BECAUSE……actually most of the people forget that WE have the power, WE the customers. If we refuse to buy a product because it is way too expensive, then the producing company MUST come down to a realistic price tag.

You can try the same tactic with Rolls Royce or Ferarri. You still have to keep in mind what the brand is, the caliber of what they make, and the market value of said product. I'm sure years from now there will be lower priced alternatives. Anytime new technology emerges it is always expensive at first.

Sell the triggers without a DW kit to further inflate the already high price and I'm sure more people would love to adopt the tech. Since it's Roland's baby now hopefully that's the direction they'll go with the technology.
