So the English (Gascoigne) and Welsh (Jones) are not the fairest football nations, although they're not that bad in the ranking, ...the Argentines are not world champions in fair play either, sorry Leo, ...and the Bolivians have to keep their heads down completely. So who are the fairest footballers in the world - and why?

I'm from Malaysia. Really proud that we are ranked 2nd. I guess our laid back culture shows that, of course japan is better since they are taught the principle of being together since they are still kids. Malaysia Boleh !!!

I live in Japan and watch the J-League every week. I was a soccer player myself for many years in Germany and witness a very different attitude in the soccer culture of both Countries. In Japan I see less fouls, less cards but If a foul was committed the guilty player almost always apologises and assist if necessary. In Germany this would be a fairly rare sight. The rude fouls are usually committed by players from outside Japan, mostly South American or European. I am always positively surprised when I see how respectful Japanese professional players conduct themselves on the pitch. The 'Soccer World' could and should learn a lot from Japan in terms of fair spirit and civilised conduct.

Haha I love to talk about this kind if cultural differences. Because on paper we're playing the same game but the approaches can vary so much. Here in Argentina passion is the norm and Bilardo (Coach of the 86 Champions) said one time "Guys we can lose this world cup, but if we bring home the Fair Play trophy I'm going to get rid of you all"

I am a Malaysian, but I don't watch our own league 😅 Quite surprised we ranked number 2 in fair play, but I won't say our culture is anything close to Japan's. If anything, I think many foreigners would find our lifestyle more laid-back. I wonder if that has translated to our player's aggression or the referee's willingness to be harsher with the players.

You could pretty much draw a direct parallel with "Sports butt slaps" her game with "fairness". The more butt slaps per game, the fairer people act. They feel validated, and have a little pep in their step. If we look at expected butt slaps x/butts per game, it would be clearer.

@@dwkickoff I perceive the Premier League as being more physical and rude, which is more tolerated than elsewhere, La Liga and Serie A are full of (unnecessary) drama, and the Bundesliga seems a bit more balanced. I still love and watch those leagues, the best players play there and the best football can be seen, but sometimes I miss exactly what was shown in this video, more true sportsmanship, respect and friendship on the pitch! No opponent = no game….. so you better respect your opponent.

As I watch ISL(Indian Super League) and india is ranked 12 in this list I guarantee that our league is not fair at all, many times goals are falsely given to famous teams which were offside as no VAR is used, and also there are plenty of fouls

@@dwkickoff there're less aggressive plays in Malaysia. In fact, the players are not as aggressive as the fans especially during important matches. When a player got booked, he will play less aggressive to prevent red. Thus, less cards produced. Lastly, no one wants to bribe the referees to give red card to the opponent.😉

I m from Malaysia 🤭 Not sure how it links to good proof.. But cultural wise, Maybe it is because.. Malaysian always give ways.. v prefer quiet rebellion n quiet aggressive.. But don’t like to c violent n not so much real aggressiveness.. N whenever v did something wrong in d public.. V feel like public enemy n also being condemn by society as public enemy.. It is a shame to our family n embarrassment to our circle of friends.. Therefore v try to be friendly n peaceful most of d time.. even though v don’t like d other person 😬

Romania is not the most aggressive football league in Europe. The refereeing is very soft especially when it comes to awarding penalties. And even one of the problems of the current players would be the lack of aggressiveness and another reason can be the low level of football that can as defenders when they try to deposit through a sliding entrance, because they are not very good at mimicking the leg instead of ball.

England is high on the list, likely, because of a professional attitude to football, especially among the referees. It's fun to see how the germas, who are around 67 ish iirc on the list don't like the comparison. That said, this makes me feel truly sorry for the Dutch, because they keep thinking that they are Germany's great Rival. Yes, of course Japan is on the top of the list. A well functioning rule following and uncorrupt collective society with a strong shame and honour culture.

You probably could. Your reply itself shows two hints that you'll make it over here. Number one, you've shown respect to other peoples' culture. Number two, you've shown humbleness and modesty in saying you couldn't do it. These two attributes are maybe the only things you need to blend in in Japan. You don't necessarily have to become like us, you just show respect and we'll respect you back as you are. And don't worry about being humble or modest, we don't interpret that as someone being weak or unconfident as so many people in the world do. And if we find out you are really worried, lost or unconfident about something, we'll help you. But remember, the Japanese are shy people, and because foreigners will probably not be good at non-verbal communication, if you need help or company try asking for it. You don't need to say a whole bunch, just a simple "Hi!" and a few words would do. It's easier than you imagine. Love and respect from Japan.
