Seems like a way to muddy the waters, immigration is a huge area. In typical DW fashion, they are only showing off the successful immigrants. Hardly anyone, even in Saxony, will have an issue with the two in the video, this is misleading. The ones people are concerned about get a total of 13 seconds of footage in a 6min video. It's intellectually dishonest to present two highly educated and successful immigrants as if they were representative of all immigration, essentially using them as a shield from all criticism.

I am an immigrant, an Indian, who came to Germany on an invitation to study my masters at Uni Stuttgart. I entered Germany in the most legal way possible(at least I think so). I have never faulted on my Visa(student or work), never broken a law, never disrespected the culture(in fact I genuinely love and try to internalize it into my day to day life) and as a bonus love the German bakery(also the dishes might I add). I want to list how Germany(esp. Stuttgart) has been to me: 1. I have never faced racism. At least not any overt racism at all. No human is perfect and I dont care if someone on the street is a racist unless that harms me in any way. My colleagues, boss(es), teachers/professors, the people at the bakery, restaurants, supermarket have never been racist. 2. I have never been denied of any rights or service by the authorities. 3. I have never faced disrimination in getting an apartment for rent. I have had vermieters who were almost of my age(relatively young) as well as those who were in their 80s. 4. I have never been disrminated when I needed help in shops or when I had to solve an issue with my internet connection at the Telekom store etc. etc. etc. Thing to note here is that I am still not fluent in German, I am improving, yes!! but not fluent. So if someone is racist they coould have easily been. Instead, everyone was super welcoming and helping. And the a comment/compliment that I have time and time again received from many of them, especially my vermieters, was that I seem to be very "Sympathisch". Now, when I first heard this, I was not sure what that meant(like in 2018 or so) but now I know what they mean. So reflecting on it, it does make sense. When you, as an immigrant, have a mindset to appreciate the local culture, like the local way of life, to assimilate as much as you can, to contribute to the society, and genuinely have no made up pre-conceived notion, then that comes out on your expressions(the way you greet someone, talk to them, ask for help etc etc). I have many acquaintances who, by default, think of some German things to be below/lesser than their culture/system/way-of-life. That, for me, is really really upsetting. When you have such notions, you will not, inherently, assimilate. Thats where a friction starts. I have seen many many many many immigrants who just want to milk the German system but not give back. Thats absolutely sad! Now, this doesn't mean there aren't racists, or that I will not ever come across one, or that there are no victims of racist behaviours. And the law needs to take care of that. What I want to highlight is that a common or mass feeling of animosity develops when a majority of immigrants dont respect the culture or the law of the land. P.s. all racist comments in reply to this comment are to be ignored

I don't think the population has turned anti immigration perse but against unregulated mass immigration. It has put everything on hold as every town is overburdened, the children service of my neighbouring city is forced to house children in hotels as all capacities are overfilled, housing has become increasingly expensive/ impossible to get, schools have to adjust to massive proportions of foreigners unable to speak German, kindergarten spaces are hard to impossible to come by. Immigration for the labour market is a short term solution but the strains it puts on our social system makes it extremely difficult for anyone wanting to start a family as they are simply unable to afford it and get the support needed, short term it may solve the problem but long-term it will worsen it

Fact is highly qualified people of non-European descent avoid Germany, and Germany's recent attempts to attract skilled workers have been quite a failure, actually many are leaving for good after only a year or two - most of them heading towards the English-speaking West, where they find better working conditions and a far better social climate. If I, by my own volition ( as opposed to any coercion) have decided to uproot myself from my home nation/ culture and migrate thousands of miles to another nation/culture then the onus falls on me & my ilk to conform , respect, adhere to and integrate into the host society which has so graciously accepted me and given me a better shot at life than my own home base which FAILED me. Now imagine if I bring along the same cultural norms and attitudes that failed me & my ilk in the first place and then force the natives of my host nation to adopt and tolerate it? How do you think thats gonna work? Badly. Also, are the new entries into your land actually contributing a lot of positive or are they a huge burden on your welfare system? Are they law abiding or are they causing a lot of crimes, terrorism and mayhem? These are important questions to ask yourselves before you open the flood gates. Western Leftists or Liberals ( as they call themselves) have unfortunately greatly affected this process which is now causing a blow back. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
