Prayers?? If the Iraqi god (then Mesopotamia) existed, then this was his plan. But not even close when that brutal god, murdered a planet by drowning. Science - honesty and understanding what is happening to the planet is what is needed. It will be exponentially worse each subsequent year. Now, these poor affected people are asking why they weren't notified. Said best by the governor of Tennessee, when asked why he wasn't better prepared. _"How to prepare for something that has never happened before""_ They don't need prayers - which does nothing - they need understanding on what is actually happening to the planet. co2 is the reason. co2, once created last between 300 to 1000 years or so. And we generate more co2 everyday adding to the problem. We have 150% more co2 in the atmosphere since the beginning of the Industrial Age.

Lived in Spain for past 20 year. The rivers beds are dry a lot of the year so people use the dry river beds on the edge of villages to park their cars. As the rivers enter the towns they are usually routed into concrete channels that run down the main streets. Again I have seen people use these also as parking! What normally happens is that when rain is forecast people move their cars from the dry river bed. The concrete channels in the towns produces very fast flowing water. In this case such a large volume of rain fell that the channelized rivers in town centres could not cope with the volume of water. The water overflowed the banks of the river beds and dragged in cars, and lots of cane plants which blocked the channel further in the towns as it passed under bridges. On multiple occasions I have seen cars floating down rivers and I have also been to the beach after a flash flood and seen the water covered with giant cane stalks. It is normal in coastal towns and villages when a storm is known to be coming that cheap bricks "tochanas" will be temporarily cemented to a height of about 25cm in shop and house doorways so that the water can flow down the streets as an additional conduits direct to the sea. The storms are expected in Catalonia this weekend so The towns will be preparing all of the above to mitigate.

I think they asked for help maybe not right away ...But yes in such situations neighbors can help first. I used to live in Nevada where because no rain / soil situation ever not heavy rain can become a huge flooding, so city authorities of Las Vegas for example built channels to catch the waters, inside the neighborhoods the stadiums had 2nd role as collector of waters in case of flash flood. Noone thinking to drive in case of alarm, keep sending text to go to higher place and still some dead people every tie during monsoon season :( Spain and whole Europe need to think for better system of flash flooding prevention: cleaning river beds, regular check on dam walls, forestation as much as possible, proper alarming, 24/7 TV broadcast before and during bad weather, constant reminders to population and Plan A, Plan B to all services . Solar plants and electric cars are good idea eventually, but first we have to be safe in our towns and villages
@EnaroGenaroX19 күн бұрын

I'm in Malaysia where floods are to be expected in certain parts of the country. And we had indeed suffered some really severe ones, like in 2021. But for countries which are usually arid, there is significantly less predictability of how things will go when there's abnornally high rainfall. As with in Spain right now. Some really horrible scenes including at 2:49. This kind of event must serve as a warning for everyone, regardless of where they live, to think ahead of "worst case" situations. And have a rough plan on the options should these occur. My condolences to the families of those killed, and sympathies for the various losses suffered.
@mbengaful24 күн бұрын
In this area they are used to heavy rainfalls but this was one in a millenia kind of event, you can't realistically create infrastructure to handle that. There was a red alert by the weather agency but people didn't take it seriously enough or the failed to communicate the severity of the situation. Many died trapped while they were trying to take their cars out of underground garages for instance.
@Pleasiotic123 күн бұрын
@@mbengaful What a ridiculous thing to say, of course you can create infrastructure to handle stuff like this. They just don't want to because it's expensive and would be disruptive to the status quo. My money is on them changing nothing after they recover from this, other than using it to try and force more EV mandates and put more insects in our food supply.

Countries in the tropics are used to frequent and heavy rainfall and the vegetation and soil absorb most of the water. In countries like Spain with regions that go without much if any rain for many months the ground becomes dry and compacted and is not able to absorb much water . It acts like concrete where the water just runs off to a lower area. That's why when flash floods occur in places like in Arizona here in the states many people are caught off guard

Deep condolences from Pakistan. The world should acknowledge now that global warning climate change is a real issue and we should do something. Otherwise this will destroy each one of us.

How is this possible, Czech Republic was hit in September. Is anyone manipulating the weather? Is cloud seeding responsible?

They've actually gained 12.5% - 50% forests over the last century. It's the proximity to the Mediterranean. Same happened in 1957.

So painful for Spain 🇪🇸, my heart goes out to the people and family's who have lost loved ones. Deforestation, climate manipulation, and naturally occurring weather, but of course the media only blame man made climate change. Pathetic 😢
