If you live close to one of these coco peat companies, you can see how much air pollution and water pollution it causes. Even driiving past a coir pith factory is difficult because of the small coir particles that get into our eyes and ears. Also, to manufacture a 5 kg block, check out how much pure dam / river water is used to reduce pH levels of the coir husk. DW is made for minds. Please check the other side of this field and high light both sides of it.

@@nikeshofl Agreed. It is also an extra income earner for coconut farmers. But that ought not be the excuse for polluting ground water and using up massive amount of fresh water. It will be appreciated if the industry can focus on technology improvements to reduce fresh water usage and stop ground water pollution.

For which process coir industry need water ? I think they never need large quantity of water ,every process comes under dry one.

@@sakthivel-kg2sk nope.. 1st stage is dehusking and separating fibers. Then the powder like coir is washed using large quantities of fresh water to clean it before drying it. Only after this it is made in to pith. So wet processing is involved in the initial stages.

@@DWTamilThis coir industry is polluting entire surrounding of many village why are you promoting this coir industry.Because of this industry groundwater near by the coir industry have severaly polluated these ground water ph levels increased so it is not advisable for drinking,bathing or even for agriculture purpose and they causing air pollution too. Many coir factories near Village are not following national green tribunal and tamilnadu pollution control guidelines this was an main reason for pollution.I am not against the small scale business but that business should be eco friendly.Please dont promote this coir industry.

Value added products are welcomed. Export of coco peat also welcomed. But ground water is polluted because of these peat making process 🙁

@@rbaccount4878 Water is sprayed over coco peat. Then this water left out untreated. The unclean water enters ground and get mixed with ground water. This results in colour change, affects taste of water from adjutant wells, bore wells. This happens not in 1 or 2 months. It will take at least 6 months. You can also enquire with people living adjutant to coco peat drying areas.
