The way you feel about this and studio ox is the same way I feel about the IDW style TransformMission Menasor, I love it but I also know its not for everyone however I am really glad that 3rd party company's are branching out beyond just strict G1 designs and giving us other great representations of a character.

I got mine this weekend and overall he is a great figure and like you, I like the Studio OX styling and this is also "my" Rodimus. Great video as always - I love the no BS, tell it like it is, never sell out attitude.

So I collect Rods...I have doubles of almost every single release, official or otherwise, and this along with his black version (Terror?) is one of the last ones I'm missing. I just ordered mine tonight. The robot mode looks amazing, wish the convoy was a little bigger. My absolute favorite is MP09 but only for it's looks...the transformation is literally the worst I've ever laid hands on and the Hot rod mode (car minus convoy) is godawful. Surprising since MP28 is fantastic. Thankfully 09's convoy is the most beautiful Rodimus Prime vehicle mode ever. The robot mode is P good too. The cheapest option is to buy an 09 and the TRU masterpiece to display convoy and robot modes together. I'd be in heaven if I could get a super detailed 1/12 scale professional-grade model version of his car and truck modes but that's one hell of a pipe dream...I'm really digging both modes of Carry. Thanks for the video, it was nice to see what I'll be getting in 5 months when the thing finally arrives from China.

When you did the comparison shot with Optimus, I really liked that you called him Optimus and not MP-10, or Convoy or whatever, because Masterpiece Optimus is simply Optimus, while for instance Classics Optimus is Classics Optimus. Look at me, a friggin' Rodimus Review, and I'm over here talking about Optimus.

I believe there's already a 3P making a spoiler/cab extender! :) Also, you might wanna use a spudger tool instead of a screwdriver or a nail file! I got one for like 99 cents on ebay. They definitely made some improvements since I saw some test shot reviews. The goatee is kinda weird, though. Great review.

there is a lot i like about this figure but MP-09 is one of my favorite figures and love the transformation. I would very much like to get the black repaint of Carry. i love the black and purple! Having the repaint of Carry and the official Rodimus would be nice because they don't have the same look to them.

I love the look of my mp rodimus , im tired of handling him like a delicate rose but whatever , comes with the hobby *cought apollyon cough* . I was waiting for this review, a few things I noticed, some reviewers usually pop out the leg section first in altmode before transforming the trailer, it seems easier to do that then force the side panels out first. Also the small exhaust pipe section on the bottom of the arm folds down behind the forearm. I own both Hasbro MP Rodimus and Takara Rodimus Convoy. While he is a good representation of the character, he does have some major flaws in the design. Carry looks cool, I will have to get him as a Roddy fan and the front end bothers me too, thankfully there's that add on upgrade coming to fix that lol.

Yea the pipes were an oversight on my part. I did this review the morning after working Baltimore comic con 3 days in a row. And woke up early to do it so the kids wouldn't be causing a ruckus in the background. You can hear it in my voice in the beginning lol. Oh well, won't b the last mistake I make. Thanks John

That engineering is Amazing! I wish I had the extra coin for him. I'm kind of holding out for the inevitable MTMTE version. Face looks weird from far off but the close up improves it greatly. He's got a "Roche chin" lol. Sorry about your wheel but I bet You can heat the pin and push it in a touch.

The arms only seem disproportionate because the shoulders are so tall. If you measure the upper arm length from the shoulder-joint itself to the elbow, the proportions are pretty spot-on.

Well, yes and no. I see what your saying and the elbows are properly placed (at the bottom of where the ribs would be. But the hands should end up being half way down the thigh. These end up being closer to the top of the thigh. It's not horrible or anything, but it's a little off. The forearms should technically be a bit longer, But I agree with you the shoulders do make it look more out of proportion than it actually is.

One thing I really like about this is that this is RODIMUS, not a half-assed Hot Rod trying to be the big guy like the MP was. Though, I'm not crazy about the butt-flap, or the limited lifespan rubber tires. If this guy was a little smaller, I'd be all over it.

I don't hate mp rodimus but there is tyrant and he looks really good. Very smart move to release them closely. I've been checking bbts religiously for a carry instock finally saw one friday. Carry and tyrant are must buys for me mp roddy can stay on the mp shelf like fanstoys dinobots they get a spot all themselves. Now I just need a large disembodied unicron head.

+Bobby “Skullface” Skullface L I think my problem with Shockwave is that his feet look way too skinny, and his legs are a little small compared to the rest of his body. His head also looks a little strange. I think one guy put it best when he said that these new designs make them look like the Heroes of Cybertron line, less detail as if they stepped straight out of the cartoon, Hotrod especially. I like my TFs to be anime accurate, but not in the bad way. Animators simply don't draw all the details because it would be too time consuming. As far as size goes, I don't know how big Shockwave is suppose to be. He towers over Hotrod, but I don't know how big Hotrod is in comparison to anything else.

I would LOVE this guy if he was smaller. Call me a heretic but I hate G1 Rodimus. He looks goofy and weird being anywhere close to Prime's size and he was just a boring character. The only Rodimus I can stomach has been IDW's version of him. So, if this guy was about Generation Springer's height (maybe a tad taller) I'd pick him up without a second thought but it looks like Cloud Rodimus is the best I'll get. :/

+David Lenshyn I LOVE classic Rodimus/ Hot rod, best version ever!I bought MP Rodimus (which was the only MP I ever bought at this point.) But I only transformed him maybe twice before his left arm came clean off at the shoulder. Not only that but the transformation was a mess! I'm looking forward to see how they try and redeem Rodimus. He seems like hes going to be legit and in scale with everyone else, but i guess we will have to wait and see. I prefer his futuristic race car mode over his space Winnebago or whatever.

Behind glass case looking like a champ. Bottom line most collectors transform once....maybe twice.......display and capture behind glass errrrr ummmmmmmmmm unless otherwise noted. Transforming from one form to another and selecting an action pose really should be the most going on here unless......................LOL! Odd never once had a problem transforming MP Rodimus............must have received a good one. Agreed will pickup new MP 2.0 Hot Rod all day long..........with MP-09 I never really considered as Hot Rod anyways always as Rodimus so maybe that's the reason I was never not happy with the purchase.
