can't wait to see the face up! She looks great with the darker skin tone, I always think it's so sad that tan/darker skinned bjds are so rare and hard to find, I definitely wanna try dyeing one myself but I'm sort of dreading if will come out super unevenly dyed ^^"

Thank you for your comment 💕! I wish dollmakers would make more tan and dark skinned dolls 😭. This was my first time dyeing a doll and it wasn't as hard as I thought! There are ways to fix it if the color comes out uneven. Let me know if you have any questions!

She looks fantastic! I always appreciate how your tutorials are a thorough step-by-step process. Sometimes the fancy tutorials I see from big channels skip around and make customizing seem impossible, but your videos always make me feel like I can do it too.

Oooh, this process is really cool! I'm looking to make my first custom and it involves also dyeing the hair parts Seems like the hair's made from the same materials, but I'm wondering if it will work the same, mainly because it's already painted out of the box. Would I have to remove it beforehand?
@MJHsuArt7 күн бұрын
To change the hair color, the method depends on what color you want the hair to be, and the original color of the hair. If the original hair is white (either painted by the factory or simply molded in white plastic), then it should be easy to dye it any color you want! However, if the old hair is a dark or bright color, then it's better to paint over it instead of using dye. Acrylic paint works pretty well if you want to repaint the hair! In some of my videos I repainted the dolls hair.

wonderful! how do you think, will this color be erased from the body with acetone? i would like to try painting my doll, but in the process i use acetone if i don't like the result on my face and i'm going to redo it
@MJHsuArtАй бұрын
That's a great question! The color WILL be erased with acetone! During my dye process I actually got a really bad dark spot on the face, but I was able to erase it with a cotton pad dipped in acetone. If you have Procreate, Photoshop, or other drawing application, I would suggest first doing a mockup in the app to see how your face paint would look on the doll. I have a couple videos showing this process in Procreate. Unfortunately if you decide to erase the face deco with acetone it would likely remove some of the dye.
@hachim00nАй бұрын
@@MJHsuArt how do you recommend correcting mistakes on dark skin in this case? besides acetone, what are the options? I'm a beginner and I've watched all your videos, you're great!
@MJHsuArtАй бұрын
The only other option I can think of is using liquid watercolor paint instead of acrylics. Before it dries, you can easily wipe it off with water! But once you seal it with a matte spray, you will have to use acetone to remove it 😬. As you are doing the face deco, I would go slowly and regularly step back and check your work to make sure you are happy with it!
@hachim00nАй бұрын
@@MJHsuArt i'll try watercolor then, thank you very much!!

I would like to request something. Try a deep pot instead of a pan and just YEET all the pieces in there at the same time and let them soak. If not posible because the pieces touching the bottom will melt them, then do it in a plastic container. I really want to see what happens if instead of hanging them with strings we just let them sit and soak!
@MJHsuArtАй бұрын
Haha I don't know...maybe I'm too scared to do that strategy 😆 because the thickness and material of the pieces affect the rate that it dyes. Thin/small pieces dye a little faster. And certain materials dye faster. In this case the head is made of a softer different material than the other body parts. Maybe with a bigger BJD it might work!
