I love when you do these dye pyramids. It shows how much you can do with very few colors.

This is the most cohesive of the triads, I'm loving the subtlety of the centre skeins. I tend to like purple and green more but the orange in there is like the spice in the meal.

I love this episode. You can really see how the light value of each color affects the saturation level when blended. You were right… not using more of a lighter hue but using less of a darker hue gives a more balanced color range. For pastels, you have to be careful with yellows as well.

Yellow is always a hard one for sure. It gets overtaken so easily.

I don't really know what I was expecting from this combination of colors, but it's definitely NOT what you ended up with! I am absolutely blown away by these colors! They're beautiful

Right?!?! I was so surprised. Someone on Tik Tok replied to me about how to mix a brown and they said "green and orange, it's color theory" Yes it is color theory, but it isn't always enough, the proportions matter.

There are a lot of fascinating results from this experiment! Looking at just the primary colors, the green actually feels paler to me, but it blends with the purple and overtakes the orange a lot. It's odd that the orange and green side is so green-leaning and the orange and purple side seems a lot more even. The midpoint between green and purple is such a gorgeous muted teal-leaning blue! I think one more reason for doing a triangle experiment like this is to see what sorts of colors you can get in many different ratios to see whether space-dyeing or a layered tonal will give a good range or end up as complete mud. I probably have the layered tonal in mind because you just released that video, but I think the tones you got in that one are pretty strongly suggested at here.

I absolutely love doing these to see how colors will blend together. It means that I'm less afraid of using the purple and green together because I know the combinations are so pretty.

I think my favourite colour is just uo towards orange from purple, but the most interesting one is one down towards green from orange, it looks like maybe that broke a bit because I'm definitely seeing some orange in there and some green rather than a blend of the colours

Thank you for watching my videos! Google will auto translate the captions from English to Portuguese. You can adjust this by turning on the Closed Captions then clicking on settings and then autotranslate. I know my video captions are not perfect so there are errors there even in English. I try to put all of the dyeing conditions in the video description. I hope this helps! (I'm going to try to auto-translate this into Portuguese

They're small 16 oz containers that are often used for take out or food delivery. I wash them and save them to use for ChemKnits. :D Upcycling for the win!

According to my notes, the perfect brown is 0.45% Blazing Orange plus 0.05% True Black on 100 grams of yarn. So, you would use 45 ml of orange and 5 ml of black, coming from 1% stock solution. Now my original goal was a burnt orange color, so I discovered the brown by accident by first dipping the yarn in 0.9% (90 ml) Blazing Orange and 0.05% (5 ml)True Black with no acid. So since the acid can shift the color, I would do a little testing to make sure. I wanted to record the brown color in general for safe keeping. So I do not know what to think. Acid at first? No acid at first? How about having some fun with colors plus a hair of black?....Let's be clear. Once I did the 0.9% BO + 0.05% TB with no acid, the dye was beautiful brown. Adding acid later on did not change the color. But I think whether or not I have acid in the pot or not, 0.45% BO + 0.05% TB should get the brown again, but I can't remember. What I do remember is that to get my Burnt Orange Color, I had to have vinegar in the dye water first. So when I dyed the next skein in the same pot of water, the water already had vinegar. The skein turned Burnt Orange, even though the first skein in clean (no vinegar) water turned a beautiful, gorgeous brown.

I do remember that mixing my orange with black gave a lot of browns when I was dyeing a muted rainbow fade set.

If the orange (or yellow) is so easily overtaken in a triad, could you just make a 2% solution of it instead of a 1%. Might be an interesting experiment.
@ChemKnitsTutorials
@ChemKnitsTutorials Жыл бұрын
You absolutely could double the yellow/orange, but part of the benefit of these videos is that you learn about the ratios between the colors and the colors those create. It is easier for me to go back and reference the mixing videos if i know the colors are all mixed with similar ratios.

If I was going to make a fade set - I would double the orange probably.
