I always enjoy your triangle dyes. This one has some beautiful results. Thank you.

I was so excited to see this one! It feels like this is another one that answers some questions but raises even more. Looking back at your other neon triad color mixing with frozen it's really hard to say how similar the effect is on the blue-pink mixtures, partially because the blacklight shots aren't the same configuration. I feel like the blacklight blue is still showing up in the 2.5 - 15 ratio, but that could be because of the tonal nature of this method of dye! I really love the strange way that the 2.5 - 2.5 - 10 combo looks orange-leaning neutral in white light but blue in blacklight and would absolutely love to see what that looks like more concentrated! I think there's no end to the experiments that the fluorescent colors have.

I might need to do a side by side - a fl. pink mixed with frozen vs with BL blue. Hmmmmm....

So pretty. I would like to see the 3 neutrals under the black light by themselves to see if they are at all fluorescent without the bright minis by them.

I love these triangle mixes you do! This one was so much fun. I just purchased the muted set from this video as it feels like a nice fade. I'm not entirely sure what project I'll make though, but I can't wait to see them knitted up together! Actually, every set from this video I really love! It was hard to choose just one. :)

Great episode! I am curious to know how the mini skeins look outside in the sunlight. There will be visible/white light plus UV light and I am wondering if that combination would make the pastels in the middle of the triangle 'pop' a bit more than a pastel normally would.

I would go and try to look right now but it is a bit cloudy. I have noticed some differences on yarn outside in the past - so this is a good suggestion. Especially for those brown colors. For the other neon colors, I think the colors will feel very electric in the sun but with that much white light you might not see much fluorescence.

I like the neutral that changes to a blue the best because it's so odd! All of them are pretty though. One thing that I found myself wondering though is what would happen if you overdyed a Kool-Aid dyed yarn with it's similar color. Would it become fluorescent or would it cancel out. If the color was different, like a Kool-Aid red with the yellow dye, would it be orange but glow yellow? Someday I may try that. I seem to be a fan of surprise colors. Who knew? :D

Interesting question! I think that if you overdyed yellow koolaid yarn with a fl. yellow, you would see the fluorescence. I'm not sure about mixing blue with the red food coloring pigments or not. Most green fl. dyes are fl yellow mixed with a blue pigment, so you should see fluorescence if you overdye blue food coloring with fl. yellow. or yellow food coloring with fl. pink.

It would be interesting to see what the wavelength of light was for each of these.

This wouldn't be hard to determine in a lab setting. If only I had some equipment, lol.

@@ChemKnitsTutorials I was wondering if maybe the wavelengths of the pink and the blue cancelled each other out somehow.

I think you could have more of an innate feel if you just made a 2% dye stock of the blue and used the same amount of mL for the mixes. At least that makes more sense in my head than using odd mL ratios of 1% stocks.

What happens if you dye naturally grey, tan, brown, or black yarn with fluorescent dye?
@ChemKnitsTutorials10 ай бұрын
Fantastic question! With a medium color you 100% still see the pop of fluorescence. It can feel super dramatic. However, the darker the yarn, the dimmer the fluorescence will be as some of the dark (nonfluroescent) color there will absorb some of the light. I think that yak is the darkest one I've dyed - and I have a video with that coming up again soon.

I think I heard an error at about 17 seconds when you said you were using Dharma fluorescent dyes instead of Jacquard dyes
@ChemKnitsTutorials9 ай бұрын
I may have referenced an old vidoe I did with Dharma dyes? Where I used frozen or carrib. blue since I didn't have blacklight blue at the time. But I also may have mixed it up and not caught it.
