You're definitely not deaf, lol. Lars only plays double bass on a few songs live since he switched to that little ass kit on the Load or Reloaded tour. The only song he plays double bass at every gig is One.

Lars stopped practicing during the 90s, and it showed all the way through the 2000s-2010s. One of the major effects of this was losing his double bass skills. He only started practicing again during COVID lockdown, and it's evident with how much sharper he's been so far this decade, playing in tempo and being capable of double bass again.

I've been a big fan of Rob since his early Suicidal days but he's dumbing down the bass (left hand) big time to accomodate what the average listener would (or rather, wouldn't) hear of the actual bass on the AJFA studio version. Jason's isolated bass is easy to dig up on KZbin and it's definitely more complex than what Rob is doing here, most notably during the ("dear mother, dear father") verses. The right hand fingers may be moving but the left hand is definitely taking the simple route.
