This was our (Matt and I) first time to the bike park and we were a little apprehensive but really excited to ride and experience this awesome bike park. #mtblife #mtb #dyfi
The Dyfi bike park is a 650 acre bike park set in the heart of Dyfi forest. The bike park has been lovingly designed, sculptured and built by the Atherton family and with the history and pedigree of riding talent they have, you can 100% expect an EPIC location for stretching your shredding skills!
It’s been built by Dan Atherton so as you can imagine it’s a venue dedicated to rapid descents, with three downhill tracks and a jump line featuring a plethora of tabletops from large to monumental!
Dan has been quoted saying: “Don’t be too put off by the fact it’s black though, It’s more like Revs [Revolution Bike Park] than Red Bull Hardline.” Revs, (AKA Revolution Bike Park), is a gravity venue near Bala in North Wales with black and red grade trails, roots, tech and also where it’s mandatory to wear a full face. Dyfi Bike Park has been built in a similar style, so it’s aimed at experienced riders but you don’t have to have won a World Cup!
ONSITE:
There's a free car park, toilets, shop and cafe with hot and cold food + drinks. The trails have epic scenery and super fast/epic downhills that will have you whooping and hollering at the top of your voice! If you are into your military aircraft, you'll be in for a treat as the bike park is placed right on the flight path for the "Mach loop", where pilots put their aircraft through technical low level flight training runs through the mountains.
TRAILS:
Turns In The Ferns = RED
Super Swooper = RED
El Hippo = BLACK
50 Hits = ADVANCED / BLACK DIAMOND
Original Dh = VERY ADVANCED / DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND
Race Track = VERY ADVANCED / DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND
Slab Track = TRIPLE BLACK DIAMOND - This track has obstacles that can’t be rolled and don’t have alternative lines.
Slab Track = TRIPLE BLACK DIAMOND - This track has obstacles that can’t be rolled and don’t have alternative lines.
Fire In The Booth = TRIPLE BLACK DIAMOND - This track has obstacles that can’t be rolled and don’t have alternative lines.
Oakley - Icon Way = PRO-LINE TRIPLE BLACK DIAMOND.
UPLIFT:
The uplift takes 12 minutes, while the jump line takes around 10minutes to get back down on. The downhill trails take the Athertons four and a half minutes… so expect to get down them in double that.
BOOK YOUR UPLIFT HERE:
www.dyfibikepark.co.uk/book/u...
Booking onto the uplift costs £36 and it’ll run on similar hours to Revs and BPW.
WHAT BIKE?:
A capable modern trail bike will be okay but an enduro bike would be more preferable. A downhill bike may be a little overkill for a lot of the tracks.
IMPORTANT: It is mandatory to wear a full face helmet.

Yes buddy, you’ll definitely need a full-face lid and knee pads👍. I’d also recommend elbow pads too as a just in case measure and if you’re feeling flush 💰 some body armour, I don’t wear it myself but my buddy swears by it! To be honest, I tend to wear my knee pads 100% of the time due to the kind of riding I tend to do and my full-face regularly comes out for Welsh trails in general 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🤘. Ps. Thanks for your support ✊

If it helps, I use Raceface knee pads as they are extremely comfortable, lightweight and can take a right belting 👍

I went not long ago in the rain and it was amazing I’ve been riding properly for about a month I’m no where near good or fast yet but I still managed to get down racetrack with no crashes along with turns in the ferns it’s brilliant highly recommend

Thanks James, I’m proper chuffed you enjoyed it and it’s giving you a little bit of knowledge prior to going. I was quite intimidated on my first visit but it is absolutely my favourite place to be now. A warm up lap or 2 on Lovey Dyfi is a great idea and something I do every time I’m there, it’ll help you feel the terrain, gradient, speed and grip of which there’s loads of it all! Have a fantastic time and above all, stay safe and shred well😜🤘.

Thanks Phil, you've helped me decide to go to Dyfi, every other video seems to be from a semi pro on a DH bike, which is great to watch but not alot of help to a normal rider.

Great video guys! I was only talking about Dyfi last night and thinking my bike or skills weren't man enough for it. But after watching this i think my skills maybe but not my bike as its only 115mm and 130mm fork. New bike in the future so i may have to give this place a visit.

Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 👍. It definitely helps to have a decent amount of suspension for sure as it opens up so many more trail opportunities but I’d be happy to ride my HCHT down Lovey Dyfi and one or two others. Enjoy shopping for the new rig 👌.

@@UPHILLPHILL The place looks epic, I’ve just starting learning to jump so I’d be more comfortable on some of the tables now or at least give them a shot. I plan on going when I’m visiting the in laws as they’re out by Birmingham so only a couple of hours from there. New bike is an Orange stage 6 evo, 29er with 140 rear and 150 fork 🙌

@@TheMTBPOV you’re right, it is epic! Your Orange will be in its element 🤘. Have a blast dude 🤜🤛

Great video guys. I myself am an average rider that likes a lot of stuff apart from jumps probably because I'm no good them. Having been to BPW a few times and another trip planned in July youve now got me thinking about a trip to Dyfi....! Good work!

Thanks for your feedback 👍. Don’t hesitate, you’ll love it. All the jumps are rollable on Super swooper and 50 hits and offer excellent progression sessions. Just bear in mind that the gradients are quite steep and the lines propel you to hyper speed in a blink of the eye 💨. Enjoy 🤜🤛
