I don't think the lone Edo Tensei method is that accomplishable, because you need to 1) become proficient in the Edo Tensei yourself, 2) die (preferably *not* as an old man in a cave on life support) 3) have someone else bring you back through Edo Tensei (which requires a third person to be a sacrifice), 4) have them release your Edo Tensei contract, and 5) perform the hand signs for Edo Tensei to anchor yourself to the living world before you get spirited away back to the Pure Lands. But if you can accomplish all of this, then yeah, you're basically unstoppable, provided you don't run into a Fuinjutsu specialist (like the Uzumaki).

Jashin's immortality is very tricky to maintain, because other than killing, you have to follow the rest of Jashin's rules, which included praying, and the trickiest one: you have to kill for the sake of killing (something Hidan says before the Chiriku fight), literally having no good reason to kill. So you have to be screwed mentally to achieve that. Orochimaru couldn't get it because he kills to be immortal, Kakuzu kills for money and so on. Hidan himself probably didn't care about immortality itself, he just wanted whatever enabled him to keep killing. I also think his starvation death was kind of underwhelming, and nerfed the whole concept (because canonically, if you don't have a Naraka Path, you can die if your digestive tract gets damaged enough). I think Jashin himself should have taken Hidan's immortality some time after his sacrifices ceased.

I always saw it as Hidan’s immortality as more along the lines of invincibility, he can’t die because his wounds won’t kill him kind of like wolverin. But if Logan simply stopped eating or was trapped at the bottom of the ocean without air he’d die because there’d be no damage to heal.

But idk if you’re counting Otsusuki’s since Ishiki lived from Kaguya’s time to Boruto. And same goes for Kaguya who was immortal. But forget them. Madara ALONE said he was perfectly immortal and invulnerable (he could ONLY be sealed like Kaguya). This was after merging with juubi. Divine tree gives you rinnesharingan so I won’t count it. Why did Obito lose? He only had 1% of Kurama and Gyuuki (8 tails). Madara had a bunch of stuff like Hashiramas sage mode, Juubi’s special element is wood style (amping it further!), divine tree, owner of the rinnegan (wasn’t nerfed by it) etc. Obito couldn’t even use Kamui nor Madara’s rinnegan. Yet Madara used Kamui first try. Anyway, that’s the one I believe gives you perfect immortality. The 2nd would be gedo mazo which gives you insane amounts of life force. Possibly infinite but I think it depends on when you plug it in. For example, Madara used it as an old man. So he stayed an old man but didn’t die. He had a lot of life force but his body was old and frail. Obito had it as a middle aged man. So he was fine to the point that he survived juubi extraction. Bearing in mind Uzumaki’s known for their life force after being extracted for Kurama died. Obito had 9 plus juubi taken (you can consider juubi its own thing). The others are in Boruto though like Kama seal or maybe being an Android idk. ’

@@jameschristopher2540 The Juubi would always be technically vulnerable to Senjutsu and Taijutsu, I think, even if it was at full power. Senjutsu can harm it simply because it doesn't fall into its domain of power, not because it is more powerful than normal. You would just need stronger attacks, because of how strong the Jinchuriki is, but they still aren't truly "invulnerable", just functionally immortal. The theoretical potential to destroy their bodies is always there, even then.

And for me Madara isn’t someone to boast about being ‘biologically immortal’ in the sense that he can live forever. What good would it do against taijutsu and Senjutsu attacks?! Maybe to make them jealous that they’re mortals, so they fight even harder I suppose. But fr Juubi is weak to senjutsu an all. But Madara at this point has 2 sage modes and even when cut in half seems to be totally fine. Whereas a little while ago he was scared of Naruto with no kcm. And 8th gate guy who needed assistance. The user's body must process the absorbed chakra (that's why they're vulnerable to Senjutsu) so there's a minimum of physical condition required. Both Madara and Nagato were beyond that, one too old and the other one too wounded/weakened. Edo Nagato and the Preta Path could absorb any amount of chakra because they weren't alive

Orochimaru corrections: 1)Orochimaru being in the curse mark is revealed in the itach vs sasuke fight not during the war arc 2) Orochimaru was not at full strength, he didn't get energy from anko he absorbed his cells and chakra from sage kabuto giving him a lot of strength 3) Kabuto mastered snake sage mode, he does not need orochimarus chakra for sage mode they are completely different things. Snake sage mode seems to alter your body similar to how jiraiya's incomplete toad sage mode does

Yep! Also Kabuto retaining snake like characteristics is explained: he assimilated Jūgo's DNA to replicate his ability to passively absorb natural energy, allowing him to continuously collect the energy even while moving so he's basically always in sage mode. Also explained in the anime, the more you use senjutsu more chances you have of acquiring frog or snake physical characteriscts while in sage mode, thus Kabuto with scales like a snake or Jiraya with frog like features.

Hidan's immortality shouldn't be number 2 as that one is a better way to end up in eternal torment then having an immortal life you want to live. Plus since you have to keep killing to please Joshin, you're pretty much guaranteed to attract attention of other strong ninja who will put you in that eternity of torment, until Joshin gets pissed off at your failure and takes your immortality back. Though yeah a free Edo Tensei is probably the best method that is reasonably achievable, given it seems as much you need the knowledge of how to break it as a core component.

It may be able to increase your life force just like the uzumaki or senju you where they can live for a hundred years, but it does not stop the degeneration of the body. From Nagato we know this is possible, as people reborn with a partciular Jutsu have the Eyes they die with. They established the curse mark revival during the Sasuke vs Itachi fight. It was a huge part of the fight, because the only ninja that knew of the jutsu at the time "Itachi wanted to get rid of it for Sasuke in that fight before he died. The Horcrux method of reviving does have limits, but it's overpowered as hell.

@9:00 OK - maybe I am crazy - but wasn't that all Orochimaru's plan. He already fought against a Sharingan user. He EXPECTED the body swap jutsu to be reflected on him. It was Sasuke that fell into the trap, not Orochimaru that got killed. He even looks back at Kabuto right after- that wasn't Sasuke trying to scare him. Then there is that whole character arch where Sasuke is credited with a series of GENIUS genjutsu against powerful opponents. That's all Orochimaru whispering in his ear telling him what capabilities those people had. Was Orochimaru in control? No, he was in the back seat of the car, but he was telling Sasuke where to go - so who's really in charge? That was the hole point of Itachi having to EXTRACT Orochimaru before he died. That was the only part that didn't go as planned.

6:26 I think you might be slightly misunderstanding. Nagato didn’t “get younger” chronologically speaking, when he absorbed chakra back. Your usage of the word younger makes me think this is your point. He simply absorbed chakra to bring his body back to a healthy state(admittedly a LOT). For example if you consume the right nutrients, your body is going to be at its healthiest based on whatever age you’re at, but you will still age naturally. Someone who’s the same age as you, but who isn’t as healthy will LOOK way older, while being weaker, slower etc. Should also mention that thing about Uzumaki’s hair being connected to their chakra thus white hair.

Also to make a human puppet you don't have to actually kill someone you just need the body, for example if sasori found Itachi body he can turn him into a human puppet. Hidan just can't die from physical attacks that's it (besides cutting his head off in which he is done). While sasori you have to attack a vary specific part on his body to kill him and he can move this part to different puppet bodies.

It's possible that he couldn't use other Rinnegan abilities because we don't actually see him do anything until he comes back as Edo Tensei and then gets revived because logic dictates that if he could use all of the Rinnegan abilities then he might have been able to implement his plan even without Obito: he could just kidnap Nagato as a kid, implant the eyes and mind control him to use the Rinne Tensei No Jutsu after his death, it might be plot convenience that he couldn't do all that but we have to assume the possibility that he simply didn't have enough time or chackra left to use the true powers of the eyes.

In Nagato’s case, it’s worth noting that he expended his lifeforce to make Rinne Rebirth work, leading to that shriveled-up appearance. Kakazu definitely has the best form. It literally just requires you to take somebodies heart every once in awhile. 4 hearts over the course of the beginning of ninja society as we know it to his point of death is insane. It makes you super durable, extremely hard to kill and unaging. It also makes you STRONGER. I think that you missed a few. Since you include biological immortality then it should be fine. First there is a kind of immortality that exists. But idk if you’re counting Otsusuki’s since Ishiki lived from Kaguya’s time to Boruto. And same goes for Kaguya who was immortal. But forget them. Madara ALONE said he was perfectly immortal and invulnerable (he could ONLY be sealed like Kaguya). This was after merging with juubi. Divine tree gives you rinnesharingan so I won’t count it. Why did Obito lose? He only had 1% of Kurama and Gyuuki (8 tails). Madara had a bunch of stuff like Hashiramas sage mode, Juubi’s special element is wood style (amping it further!), divine tree, owner of the rinnegan (wasn’t nerfed by it) etc. Obito couldn’t even use Kamui nor Madara’s rinnegan. Yet Madara used Kamui first try. Anyway, that’s the one I believe gives you perfect immortality. The 2nd would be gedo mazo which gives you insane amounts of life force. Possibly infinite but I think it depends on when you plug it in. For example, Madara used it as an old man. So he stayed an old man but didn’t die. He had a lot of life force but his body was old and frail. Obito had it as a middle aged man. So he was fine to the point that he survived juubi extraction. Bearing in mind Uzumaki’s known for their life force after being extracted for Kurama died. Obito had 9 plus juubi taken (you can consider juubi its own thing). The others are in Boruto though like Kama seal or maybe being an Android idk.

Immortality and Invulnerability are different things. Immortality simply implies that aging won't end you. Invulnerability is nothing can end you. There are a few characters in Naruto that have achieved immortality. I don't like it when people assume that just because something or someone can be ended that they are not immortal, equating the two. Vampires are immortal, they don't suffer from aging they don't show it and they can still be staked. This doesn't make them any less immortal. Wolverine is (nearly) invulnerable, but he ages. See the difference. Sasori was in fact, an immortal. So was Madara at the end.

Maybe it has something to do with your current state. Nagato died at 35, so he can drain chakra to get back to his peak at 35. Madara awakened Rinnegan and gained access to chakra drain ability at the end of his life, when his body was old and weak. The chakra drain can be seen as it can't be used to regain youth but can sustain current physical state with excess chakra.

The whole idea is the more someone uses the power of their curse mark the more their mind is degraded and makes it easier for him to take over their body. It's basically a karma marking but orochimaru came up with it on his own. He wasn't just going around boosting ppls power for the fun of it, it was a way to insure his immortality Incase the body he was in was destroyed.

The whole thing with Kabuto turning 'back' after Orochimaru sucks his chakra out never made any sense, I think it was an error. I just like to pretend it didn't happen. I have to admit I really enjoy Sasori's immortality and think that it did have some extra potential that we didn't get to see. Just in of itself, the feat of taking all of his 'life essence' or whatever and condensing it down into that core was a ridiculously impressive feat. I wonder what he could have accomplished with all those Boruto era gadgets.

11:22 Tbf orochimaru uses sasukes seal like this in the sasuke vs itachi fight, this time sasuke is just forcing orochimaru out rather than orochimaru. Looking at the eight headed snake orochimaru it kinda makes sense that he’s full. HOWEVER he still shouldn’t be at full power that I do agree with.

i think the way the curse mark having his soul and chakra in it is he adds a large portion but it regenerates in his current body after a while so both him and the marks carry a large amount of chakra

I remember that what Madara did was to just cast Edo tensei in himself when Kabuto released him, but I may be miss remembering it.
