This man, Antoon Van Hooff, was the managing director of Burgers Zoo in Arnhem, The Netherlands. His love for all animals was so contagious that he was asked by many television-programs to tell about them. His passion was to make the animals in ‘his’ zoo experience as much freedom as possible, creating save hide-outs if the needed some alone- time and not forcing them to be exposed to humans all the time. @@tony6796 My chihuahua too. It was such a sad but blessing moment to have been there for her on her last minutes of life. I like to think she waited for me. I came back from school (I was 14), she didn’t jump to me as she usually does, so I called her name and I searched for her everywhere until I heard a whimper. I kneed down and she was under my bed. She crawled out and I held her close to me. I called my mom about how we need to take her to the ER. There, on the call, my mom heard me scream out my dog’s name and mourn for her severely. She looked up at me and had passed away. My angel. I am now 21 and never is there a day where she doesn’t cross my mind. I love her and I know she’s watching over us. I know soon we will meet again.

When I was a kid we had a dog that was fairly old, but we were best friends. And we all knew that her time was coming and we tried our best to let her know that we loved her. Well I went to sleep one night and when I woke up she was curled in a ball next to me with her head on my chest. And I remember when I went to pet her she just looked at me and gave me a big kiss. I ended up holding her for a while and fell back asleep, but when I woke up the second time I woke up to my mom crying and telling me that she passed while I was holding her. I'll never forget her. That pup taught me so much in the 15 years we were alive together.

Intelligence is a curse tbh. At least the logical aspect of it. Increasing logical thinking and curiosity with no emotional restraint is what causes inhumane treatment of so many animals around the world along with pollution, destruction of wildlife, etc. Hell, we've reached a point where we can't even trust other members of our species, considering how social hierarchy creates greed and promotes manipulative and competitive behaviour among peers. Animals on the other hand don't ask for much, show them love and care and they will love you right back. she looked upset and sad about dying, then when she knew her friend came to be with her it seems like she became content and ready to let go. Its a remarkably human type response just as an old relative whos in a hospital with strangers then suddenly sees their child or grandchild come to be with them they get that spark of joy one last time and pass away content and ready. That was very nice of him to do that for her but im sure it was emotional.

@@Mickhawk1998 Ok I didn't phrase it correctly. Animals understand when another animal is dead, cause of hearing, smell and touch, but they cannot understand it like we do. Yes some animals mourn their dead pack members, but they don't get what happened and that it can also happen to them eventually. They know it's dangerous to let a predator catch them out of instinct, but they don't understand why. That chimp was not rubbing his head because she knows she's dying and that others would be sad about it. She's rubbing his head as a way to say hi and show affection to someone she is fond of.

Yeah, i just lost my dog “Canito” he was my friend for like 12 years (he was my first friend ever), One day my sister went downstairs and saw blood all over the floor, they took him to the hospital and died there. I feel terrible 😣 even more because of the fact I did not said goodbye , I thought he was going to be ok, I hate my self, I just keep watching stupid TV meanwhile my mom and dad said good bye to him. @@angingis5922 I can relate that too. I had a dog "Bruzo", he was like my brother because he was 3 years older than me. He was always by my side and looked after me just like his little brother. He started to have a lot of health problems because of his old age, he was 14 years old and I was 11 years old. One day the vet suggested us to let him go with ease instead of letting him suffer worse for few more days. I asked him that can I take him home one last time before he leaves us forever. He agreed and I played with him for one last time and the very next day he was in my arms at the vet, I said him one last goodbye before my parents took him in the room and came out with tears in their eyes. I didn't lost a pet that day, I lost my best friend my brother and a part of my heart. Now I am 21 but still miss him even though I have same lookalike dog. Bruzo was special to me because he was there for most of my childhood and he made my childhood the best.
