oh, the orangutan laughing good at the glass trick is one of my favorites. This also shows how empathetic an animal is, how well-developed self-awareness and intelligence an animal is capable of having a good laugh at itself. Yes, I think great apes have a strong self-awareness, this can be a good proof of that.

thats kind of a logical fallacy. there isn't a lot of evidence we share a common ancestor with apes. It makes sense, yes, but it doesn't make it so. there's also a human bias in seeing animals that look like us. The 'gears turning' you notice is because of their human like face. For ex. you wouldn't see 'gears turning' for an octopus, even though it could display high intelligence. So the conclude we came from that because of this isn't totally logical. So if monkeys show intelligence and body type similar to us, it may not be because we share a family, but the other way around: that humanoid creatures tend to become intelligent and display similar behaviors. So humanoid creatures could come from totally different parts of the world and have no relation and yet display similarities. An animal with a human shape body won't be fast, or strong, so it inevitably would have to be smart and develop social connections
