Dying Light: Magical Review

Dying Light is the latest title from Techland. It's a first person zombie game with a heavy focus on free running and melee combat. The game allows you to play with 4 players, be it on story missions, free roaming and other side activities. In this video, Globku shares his thoughts on what he liked and disliked about the game.

7/10 brilliant gameplay mechanics , one of the most enjoyable games for if you just want to crack a full zombie skulls and let off some steam, sotryline fell flat and felt paper thin to me, they tried to hard to make there own vaas and it did not work so great, certain missions felt very familiar to games i have played in the past and overall a kind of "nothing new here" feel, guns disapointed me in not only the way you mentioned but also in the fact early screenshots showed a .44 revolver and there is no sign of this in game, after hitting 20+ in all stats i got to a state of being able to 1 hit volatiles and everything got kinda easy, but despite all of this agree that the gameplay just feels GREAT and the combat/free run combo makes it a amazing sandbox, nothing more really... less storyline more weapons please!

I agree with everything you just said, except the "more weapons". First, fix the shooting, make it good, then you can add all the weapons you want. But if the shooting doesn't feel right, more weapons isn't going to make that appealing. But thanks for yoru comment, I enjoyed reading it a lot (:

Here's how to be OP: Buy a Legendary Premium Katana then add a Legendary Blueprint of your choosing then add 3 King Mods and Beat everything in one hit with a charged stronghold attack...even one shot Demolishers in the back. Hopefully we get a patch for more challenging "Hardcore" sort of mode.

and that's why you dupe it when you get it at and before you use it ;) Infinite OP weapon (Granted I hope they patch it so that the zombies are tougher to kill in Game +, because there is barely any upgrade to them there)

But it does take a lot of the fun away. So I mainly use a baseball bat with Homerun Mod and some semi-descent upgrades for absolute amusement, because seeing them fly after I hit them never gets old xD

Good points on your review i feel they did lack on side missions and not only lack, but have very little of them. I was expecting at least some type of mod for guns whether it was some kind of crazy silencer or paint. And last it really did need to have better loot in police cars especially when they are very hard.

4:47 you might've forgotten but the leader of the tower is a parkour instructor so that would also explain why everyone is good at climbing

One of the most complete reviews I saw so far. Good job on that. There are also some secrets to find and easter eggs stuff which gives some additional funny moments to the game.

Thanks. I agree, I had a couple of laughs with some easter eggs, but looking back, that's not necessarily what I think about when I hear "Dying Light", so I didn't think it was worth a mention. But thank you for your comment

I guess what I meant is that the fact Roger Craig Smith acts no matter what quests he's on is a huge improvement over dead island characters looking at a price of paper saying " yeah I can do that" or "nope" and that's it. Don't get me wrong I love The Dead Island series it's Dying Lights side quests and the dialogue just makes me feel involved and while some side characters tend to be flat others did a good job or at least a decent one haha. Anyway I just wanted to clarify. Thanks for replying.

I also feel like this game was REALLY short, although they are of decent length, there are only 15 story missions. Also, don't get me started on the final boss, no spoilers as to who or what the boss is, but the boss was nothing but QTEs rather than letting me bash at it with my bad-ass weapons that I got because I did the mind-numbingly boring side-quests. I guess I say it is short because some of my favorite games are Fallout and The Elder Scrolls which I can easily pump 300+ hours out of, but if I didn't have fun with messing with zombies and doing co-op and competitive, my 45 hours in this game may have been closer to 12 or 16 which is really disappointing since I have been waiting for this game since 2013. All that aside, Dying Light is still a VERY enjoyable game, although some of the challenges are really hard to do without some help, and am still having lots of fun with it. Hopefully the DLC (I hate myself for wanting DLC rather than just having it be vanilla content) will add a lot more and hopefully the bozak horde mode is interesting, because as it is right now, Dying Light still feels unfinished in a since. (Although I like a lot of the characters, Rahim, Tolga and Fatin, Gazi, and many more.)

I didn't think it was short, but then again I didn't have the expectation of another Fallout or Elder Scrolls. It falls more in line with a Far Cry title, and I think the lenght is very decent. So many triple A titles come out nowadays that can be beaten in 12 hours, and I think you can't finish this one in under 40 (with side quests and challenges of course). The Be The Zombie mode is something I've also been enjoying, and that's prolonging my time with it a lot. 100% with you on that final boss fight, that was a big let down. Thank you for your comment!

I'd score this game at about a 8.5 or a 9, I found it to be extremely enjoyable with a lot of replay value. The combat is satisfyingly and very fun and the parquor is a blast. The story was pretty good a little cliche here and there but did a great job of getting me attached to the characters and their plight, a thousand times better than dead island which I enjoyed as well. The graphics are great on par with farcry 4. The voice acting was great and I love Roger Craig Smiths work. I didn't like that there where a lot of fetch side quests but ont the same page they didn't feel all to fetch "questy" they were voice acted well and some side quests were riveting. The PvP is great when it's not just 1v1 otherwise it's a little too unbalance. Overall a superb and amazing game. I can't recommend it enough!!!

good review, good points. And yeah I hope they can fix the safehouse issue for zombie.. Gets tedious. I believe default version is set to friends only? Dont remember, mayb it depends on platform too.

This review was good but I disagree with you with the night. Well that's just me because I'm not a horror game person and the night missions where very tense and just free roaming in the night too. But, that's just my opinion

I say the game is great I love it, and my friends and me play it all the time. Sometimes I'll just invade them as the night hunter for fun. Me and you be of my friends upload to twitch on Czzartv. But night time was a little slow until I got the grappling hook. And the volatiles and a more horror element I felt this game was kinda trying to do. Anyway I love you magical noob make more awsome videos!!!!!!
