Dying My Grey Hair Pink & Fuchsia!

I can tell it lifts your spirits. I think I like the manic panic for low lights. You are beautiful regardless of hair color but the pink perks up your complexion too.

It looks great!!! Advice from an experienced hair dryer of nearly 20 years: you have to leave the dye in overnight under a shower cap or bag, then rinse it out til the water is 'mostly' clear with COLD or as COOL as possible water. But also, be sure to use cool water every time you wash your hair in the shower, try not to ring it out too much or dry it too much in a towel, and also try to avoid using hot air with the hair dryer, so the color stays in longer. I believe you have to use a certain type of shampoo as well, like one without a certain ingredient in it, but it's been a long time so I can't remember what the ingredient was, so look it up online. And I would use vinegar as conditioner to maintain healthy hair and shine as well as help the color stay in longer. And as for dye on your hands, don't worry, your usual hand washed will clean your hands up within a few days, and for the nails just scrub them a little with a nail brush or shower poof or sponge with some soap. I haven't dyed my hair in about 2 years, but I still use vinegar as my conditioner; and I used to dye my hair constantly for about 15 years, so I hadn't seen my natural hair color since I was about 12-14 years old until about a year ago, lol. I absolutely love my natural hair color and texture, and now I wish I would have stopped bleaching and dying my hair sooner! It's mainly the bleach that ruined my hair, because natural dyes like Manic Panic can actually make the hair stronger and healthier. I thought I would hate my natural hair and hair color, but it really surprised me once I finally let it grow out and left it alone.

@@thetruthergirls You're welcome. The reason Manic Panic does that is because it is 100% vegan, so it's like putting olive oil or vegetable oil on your hair.

I should have said for the vinegar conditioner to use like 2 tablespoons of vinegar in like a 32 fluid ounce bottle, then add cool water to it and shake it a bit, then dump it over your head with your eyes closed and let it sit for a few seconds or more before rinsing it and opening your eyes; or rinse your face right after so you can open your eyes as the conditioner sits in your hair. Vinegar is great for your skin and hair too, cuz it will help balance your pH and is antibiotic and antiseptic. Don't worry about rinsing it all out thoroughly cuz it won't hurt you, and once your hair is dry you won't smell the vinegar at all. It helps make the hair shiny too.

I love it so much! Very cool! Mine is coming in grey and I don’t want to have to color it all so I dd a money piece (bleached thin bangs in front) and used t 18 toner that I left in for the full developing time and it gives a lavender vibe that helps the grey blend in and look a little edgy imo. People always tell me it looks good too. We should all go punk for menopause 😎

Sonya, I am happy you are pleased with the change. I am your age and love the color pink too but am not bold enough to do what you did. If I was in my 20's or 30's for sure would have done it, but at my age am feeling like radical hair colors are about seeking attention and at my age I am enjoying being able to sit back relax and blend in with the background. It is a welcome change from always worrying about looks, make up hair and clothes. I feel sorry for my younger self that worried so much about appearance and never realized that I was more than pretty enough. I'm not saying I am now a drab slob, not at all, I still wear some makeup and do my hair mostly in a ponytail and wear modest clothing. I thought the grey did age you as it does with anyone, I would have done a permanent natural color. I would think a nice cinnamon brown would look really good on you!

punky says it lasts 35 washes but on grey i doubt it. on grey the vibrancy fades within a few washes, but it kind of stains the hair so it never goes back to 100% the grey it was, which is fine with me.

I’m with you. Gray looks awesome on some people. Other people look ok, but with there’s that yellow brassiness, it doesn’t look good. Yours looked ok. However, I love the pastel colors on you. ❤️ Next time- use gloves! 😂 Designate a shirt you will always use to dye your hair so you’re not ruining shirts. 😘 I’d do the top the same as the pink. You can’t see the red as much.

Your hair looks great. I have gray hair, but I don't mind. I had been dying my hair for many years. I started getting gray hair at 19. First started using henna when I was in my early 30's, and then started dying my hair in my early 40's. Then in 2016 at 58, I decided to let it go gray.

@@thetruthergirls Thank you. I don't use a makeup base, but I do use a little eye make up and lipstick and also use the lipstick as blush. That is all. You could try that, and see if that give you more color that you are looking for. It would not be that expensive if you use the lipstick as both lipstick and blush. Alot of women do that, to get the same color for lips and cheeks.

What's wrong with your gray hair? Now you're making ME feel old because I'm going gray. 😭 Seriously , your hair color is beautiful. It's just what hair typically does at a certain age. It goes gray, not hot pink. Some people manage to regenerate their hair color. I used to hear stories about that when I was selling nutrition products. I haven't looked into which particular nutrients are responsible. Anyway, 1:10 you look lovely. Pinned back, gives a better shape to your hair but also friends the shape of your face better. Your roots are still dark too! Could be that's all you needed was a different shape. Even when I was much younger, I thought there was nothing more attractive than an older woman who could rock the silver locks with confidence. I think the prevailing dictate of women turning themselves into cartoon characters is part of the world's self-hatred programming. Part of the whole attempt to erase nature. It's a predatious cycle of creating feelings of unattractiveness and inadequacy, and then cashing in. But I know women, and you won't believe me at all 🤓
