There was an announcement from Verdi that there will probably be a strike by ATM drivers in Germany. It is therefore possible that the ATMs will be empty over Christmas. And we will elect a new government earlier than usual. So, even in super stagnant Germany, things are starting to move. It's getting very exciting everywhere.

Sensible budget cuts are necessary because it is government over-spending driving inflation. There's much that can be cut - we don't need a CBC, we don't need to be blowing money on Ukraine, the child benefits and dental benefits the government introduced need to go. Core services need to be protected though, and home-care is something that saves governments money. Keep in mind that many of the social programs (most?) are a provincial responsibility and provinces are free to keep all the programs raise their own taxes to fund them or better yet cut waste to be able to sustain the core programs if transfer payments are reduced. Deficits should be illegal.

I can’t see where they have said you can’t bring your packages until Thursday. I don’t understand why it would be super backed up because they haven’t received any mail or packages throughout the strike. I can see it will be backed up once we drop stuff off…? I am going to try to bring my packages today and see what happens. As far as the political stuff, you didn’t mention that Chrystia resigned on the same day as she released the economic statement , that is 20 billion dollars over budget. Ouch! This country is a mess
