@thospe-f8x4 жыл бұрын
Speaking as a scientist, I wouldn't describe pseudo-random numbers as "rigged". There are actually a lot of reasons that pseudo-random numbers are preferable, especially when it comes to error-checking and ensuring that the rolls are fair (or as fair as intended). Truly random fair numbers are difficult to generate and work with - in theory you can seed them off the game clock, but then you're really trading one source of pre-determined pseudo-randomness for another. The only thing you'd really gain from a more dynamic rng is the ability to save-scum with an emulator.

This is an interesting topic. I wouldn’t necessarily calle the dice “rigged” unless the game was doing some kind of decision making to help one player over another (say making sure that cpus of higher difficulties always get higher numbers, for example). Not even in the case where the game selects a number one time and it will always give you that result no matter how long you wait to hit the dice so long as it went through the same process for all the players.
@TheGameCreator134 жыл бұрын
Agreed. But I still prefer it be based on WHEN you hit the dice even if it's just RNG. Mechanically keeping the illusion is something I can appreciate coming off this video even if it realistically doesn't matter. Still would bother me if it was pre-determined like MP1 and MPDS

I have found that in the original mario party (for the switch version at least) the dice roll seems to be decided for the next turn, just after the last player has taken their turn and before lakitu appears for the mini game screen. So you could set a save state before the last player ends their turn, so that when you load said save state, the dice roll would be different.
