Bill Hader has been doing this since before John Mulaney (I’m sure that’s spelled wrong) even came on the scene. No hate to him, I haven’t seen enough of his stuff to know how to feel about it. But this is the genius of Bill Hader and maybe Fred Armisen, both creative powerhouses. If you wanna go further back, this could be the grandchild of the “mentally challenged” olympics in Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The fake game show/fake sports caster trope came around as an evolution of mockumentaries. All of which were pioneered by the likes of John Cleese and company. The simplistic nature of a simple set up but long winded story is perfect for comedy. Anyways. Shoutout to Mulaney, I’ll give him another chance bc of your comment!!

I'm in my 8th year of Dylan McDermott or Dermot Mulroney Studies at Harvard. Our professor has told us we might find out by year 10.

That course we/is taught by Devlin McDarmin, who started every class session telling us how he just finished eating something from McDonalds while listening to Bob Dylan, his favorite musician. I dropped the class after three-and-a-half weeks.

Can I say gold this is. Definitely a comical classic. When you can literally get the audience understanding why the actors themselves genuinely sound confused.

If Dermot Mulroney married Dylan McDermott and took his name, he would be Dermot McDermott. Imagine if we were blessed enough to live in that timeline.

1:23 this is why I can’t go see SNL live. I would’ve lost it and been crying after the second “what’s that” absurdism is just too wholesome
