Yeah, it's much better when the celebrities do that. A few try to compete with him and it just makes things awkward. Melissa McCarthy did and it fell flat. Same with Bill Maher the first time Jiminy "interviewed" him, but he learned his lesson and let Jiminy run wild when he appeared on his show a few weeks ago, and it turned out to be one of the best Glicks ever.

This "interview" was great but Hader is easy pickings. He broke so easily on SNL that you just knew he'd be howling through most of this. They say Lorne hates it when his cast members break, except Hader did it all the time and was given passes because when you have his level of talent, directors / producers let it slide. Plus, breaking adds to the humor in genuinely funny bits.

You know Martin Short said in an interview with Larry King about coming up with that Glick character and Short said, "I was always fascinated with morons with power." He said, "Jiminy could have been a politician, run a boarding school..." something along those lines but, obviously, unprepared and insulting interviewer works better for this format. But it also shows how quick witted he is and calling out the powerful when they misstep. There are sadly many fools in power, and until we have a more equal, just society there is a lot of absurdity to laugh at. For a deeper laugh, check out Lee Camp. Hard to find, because he's suppressed, but great once you find him.

It's because of Bill. His laughter amplifies what is already outrageously funny. Bill is the quintessential guest for this for that exact reason. Take something that's already ridiculously funny, add Bill, and you get gold.
