"You're saying that right now from the comfort of a New Zealand radio station and, if I may say so, it's not the most stressed environment I've ever seen, I mean I think there are actually people out there having five-course lunches as they hand in their reports for the day....", such a classy, smart and totally right way to own someone. Listen to all you folks complaining, complaining, complaining (about the interviewer) - or was it ironic in order to prove Dylan Moran's point? The inteviewer was fine - he didn't cut him off or make it about himself, and that's usually good enough. He also made a correction that is important: It's not "Save the Earth", it's 'save our habitat'. This overly dramatic catchphrase has been fodder for Climate Deniers for far too long. About the only thing he should have done was decide how to promote Moran's show with ticket info etc before the interview...

I adore Dylan Moran's humour but he's mistaken about global warming and destruction of the planet. What people don't realise is that at its base, this is a matter of chemistry - you add CO2 to sea-water, and it becomes acidic. Acid dissolves calcium. Shell-fish can't make solid protection.. and fish find their breeding grounds the wrong temperature to trigger breeding cycles.. the bioweb is being ripped apart from the bottom up.. it's akin to saying that an egg in cold water remains the same but if heat is applied, the change is irreversible. In 2010, the projections were that the planet would be uninhabitable for human beings by 2060. Things haven't got better since then.
@loonatron45244 жыл бұрын
So what exactly is he mistaken about? You know that he didn't say anything about global warming in this video? He didn't even say the words 'global warming'.
@IcarianX3 жыл бұрын
It's more the interviewer that's mistaken. You often see this kind of optimistic nihilism from people who are ambivalent about climate change. "humanity is fucked, but the world will be find and carry on without us". The part they miss is the mass extinction and all of the life, ecosystems and species that we are eradicating from existence along the way. If it was only humans, it would still be terrible to lose the most creative beings in the known universe, but it's not only humans. It's much, much worse than that.
