I was a police sergeant for 25 years. I would hope I would have had the cojones to return this enquiry back to whomever sent it down to be investigated, having attached a minute saying something akin to what Alison had to say to the hapless goons who knocked on her door. It has been held (numerous times) that the police are not obliged to investigate crimes or even as in this case a non-crime incidents. Not on this case but yes the police can intervene in some non crime issues depending on the situation. What is not acceptable and even illegal is to try to prosecute people for thing we say or post online since it is not inciting violence or any sort of crime. People need to learn that we still have a Humans Right Act and on the number 10 says that anyone is allowed to express opinions out loud/online without the intervention of the gov/establishment. Most of the recent sentences in court of people that did shout to police or posted online if they didn't plea guilty and invoke the HR Act N10 wouldn't have almost any problem,but my guess it is even the lawyers appoint to them wanted them sentenced(for sure Starmer's hand on that)

"The Investigatory powers act 2016" is *real time* mass surveillance of ALL unencrypted forms of digital correspondence including voice calls. Another very FUN fact: The Tories, after passing this surveillance law, invoked Article 8 claiming the "Whatsapp" messages during the pandemic couldn't be handed over because that would break MP's human rights as set out in Article 8 of the ECHR.
