Don’t lock the steering on a flat tow. Never had to do it before, so lesson learned! All I could think was these giant tires locking to one side and throwing me off the road. Safety third people!

@@SomeBigFatGuy Only you lose the timeless old soul of this truck when you engine swap them. Obviously they're plenty fun just the way they are, and i can testify to that, I have a bone stock '56 Chevy truck myself. 6 cylinder and a 4 on the floor and i have several classics, even modern engine swapped ones, and none are as fun as that truck.

I don’t understand why you would lock the steering when your towing it.
@brucehardy1640
@brucehardy1640 3 жыл бұрын
If you don't tie the steering the vehicle can whip back and forth on you as you are driving down the highway (high speed). Mainly you will get a whipping motion on a lighter vehicle. So not all vehicles will whip back and forth at highway speeds. The speeds he was traveling at once he got off the freeway, he could of untied the steering wheel. He would of had better control of the truck then.

He could have had someone in the cab steering for the sharp turns.

@@DishNetworkDealerNEO but he didn't have someone to do that. And that is not what steve asked. He ask why you tied the steering. I tried to answer that question. Not what could have happened or been done.

How about the guy that followed him home, giving us the shots for the rear and also pulling ahead for the shots of the truck being towed down the road as it passed by. The both could have pulled over, he could have hopped in and unlashed it and used the steering, and then the rig pulled over, and he walked back to his pickup truck, and then they continued in their way. He had an assistant. That is how they got some of the shots they did.

Nahhh Paradox on KZbin already did that... Its about time someone left one stock, they are plenty fun just as they are as evidenced by his smile in the video. I have a '56 Chevy truck 6 cylinder, 4 on the floor and it is the most fun to drive classic vehicle i've ever driven.

Hey Dylan, congratulations on looking after an old truck. Happy to see a young guy with some mechanical sympathy. I am from Australia and am doing the same process with my 1974 Dodge D5N 600. It was built here by Chrysler Australia. Have subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your video's..
