thanks Dylan, what a great tool to have in my tool bag now…. not to mention i love my dragon fruit se’s pick up(yes dragonfruit, i have actually grown to love it… quick story about 2 months ago i was looking at gc’s used shot in my area, it’s like 2am, for giggles i look at the ss se page expecting to see nothing but back order on all of them, and what do my eyes see? dragon fruit in stock…. so being the responsible guitar player i am, i had to immediately pull the trigger…..even the next day i thought it was a a glitch or something so i call gc customer service to verify my order and the dude says “yeah i’m not sure what happened, but we have nothing in stock!” Two days later it shows up at my front door…. woohoo can’t wait to get a hold of your pick ups and drop em in, they sound great. Yea my strings were too high up the neck and tremolo stiff. Thanks brother. im going to try this on my silver sky se, very well done on the instructions, apprediate the help, its too good a guitar not to have a good tremolo, i never cared for tremolo but have been getting into it more, and the tremolo bar on the silver sky is so well made.

Wish I’d seen this video before I set mine up. Definitely would of saved me some time. First thing I did was remove a spring too stiff to float and 9s feel better to me otherwise I got the same results. Adjusted the saddles like you did instead of shimming the neck it’s good so far.

Recently bought. I just floated mine this way today, I'm a 9's player as well. Honing in on my setup. Interesting little detail, His guitar has 3 springs my 2022 Silver Sky SE has 4 springs. Why would that be I wonder? The saddle spring on low E is right tight. Will have to relax this me thinks. Cheers

I had actually planned to buy a SE silver sky maple. When I played it, I didn't like the neck at all. I found a beautiful Player Strat in buttercream. It sounds like it should and weighs only 7 lbs 14oz. So it's possible to use alder with less weight. Thanks for the video. That's exactly how I set up the Fender 2 point tremolo. The Player Strat is actually exactly the same as an American Standard from 2010, made in Mexico. Without case and strap 😉

Hey Dylan. I did mine(SS SE) from one of your old videos. That’s probably the 4th(?) guitar I’ve done from your videos. I think there’s actually two videos. Anyway the Silver Sky turned out the best yet. Like perfect maybe. I never even believed in trems before. I thought they were useless thing that wouldn’t ever stay in tune unless you had some kind of awful system on those pointy guitars that I hate. Well boy o boy have you ever proved that wrong! All my Strats and the little SE are set up like this now. They all work great but like I say the little SE turned out the best so far. The intervals are soooo close! I just ordered an American Pro ll and I’ll be doing it to that also. The next Strat I buy tho will be a real hard tail. Anyway thanks and peace. PS you should build and sell an HSS pickguard for these SEs. It’s only an SE so who cares about routing it? That would be amazing.

I usually just tighten the spring claw and then tune it, but I guess you can block it, tune it, and then adjust the claw until it's in tune.

Yep, that's the smart, fast, easy method. Do it before the rest of the set-up since it affects action and intonation.

Hi! I’ve recently changed mine to a floating bridge a week ago too and now I’m thinking of going back to a flush mount. Do you know how high I should adjust the pivots screws for that factory setup feel?

When the guitar is tuned to pitch I make sure the tremolo block is straight parallel facing straight down not rocking forward or rocking backward but at the dead Central Point then I adjust the intonation and recheck the string height on the saddles. But I like your style

Hey Dylan, thanks for this very clever method. Can you please link your video for Strat? Also, what is your opinion on parallel vs angled float? PRS recommends parallel for Custom 24 style guitars. Fender 2 point mex trem allows to set both angled and parallel. But i could not set Fender 2 point american parallel - the trem block got too close to guitar wood, blocking any pitch up movements.

I've seen a few of your videos setting a floating trem on the Silver Sky SE. In this video I notice just 3 springs. So did you put 9s on this guitar. I plan on changing to 9s. In one of the other videos with the maple neck I believe you kept 4 springs so on that one did yo have 10s on it? Thanks, Jim

You may also need to adjust the truss rod after doing this. How does the trem react to bends now, do the other strings go flat? That's one thing I hate about floating terms, really kills country and blues licks.

I like the tone of your upgraded Strat. If you were going to keep it I'm sure you would probably add in a switch so that you could add the bridge pickup in with the neck pickup. I like Strats, as you know, and I'm not very much of a Tele guy but if I owned a Tele I would put the humbucker in the neck and leave the Tele Bridge pick up alone. And that's kind of how I feel about Strats and humbuckers. A humbucker in the neck, single coil in the middle and then maybe something hot overwound single coil in the bridge. But I admit my tastes are strange.

Great video. I’ll refer to it next time I adjust my bridge. I float all my strat bridges. I don’t see a reason to have a strat and not do it. It makes the strat a strat! Also I still can’t get over the silver sky’s look, god what an ugly guitar. That headstock will never look good lol. In my humble opinion of course.

Floating trems suck. If you need to dive bomb like EVH get a Floyd Rose Rail Tail if it can fit the SS. You’re making a good guitar worse buy floating the trem
