Hi , I saw your post on Linkedin. there are some corrections I would like to point out in your analysis nevertheless a good approach really appreciate it. Dont mind me correcting you , the model used by you is not a chassis its looks like an A surface of a hypercar usually called as Body side outer, and unless you have a proper material curve you cannot calculate Heat dissipated during the crash by using MAT18 As Mat 18 uses elasto plastic behaviour of the material which obeys Cowper symonds law and looks into isotropic hardening . You need to use Jhonson cook material model which has temperature factor if you want to calculate the heat dissipation during high speed impacts.

Hello Anoop, I really appreciate you pointing out this flaw. I will consider this correction from next time. Thank you for taking the time to convey this useful information. PS : If possible, can you share your email id or contact me through the 'About' page of this channel ? I would like to discuss more about this with you.

Thanks for this great video. I have a quick question. In contact creation, don't we need to create a self-contact for the chassis itself to avoid any penetration during the impact occurring? In your other video of this chassis, you did self-contacting by selecting chassis as master and slave at the same time, but here you did not do so.!

@Aeroswap3 жыл бұрын
K is strength coefficient and N is hardening coefficient. You can get these values from any material database on the internet.

One thing I need to get cleared is, Can we give SPC boundary connection for a MAT20 component. Wouldn't it will through over constrained error? its like rigidizing an already rigid componenet
@Aeroswap3 жыл бұрын
Hello, Good question. I think that applying SPC to a component with MAT20 will not result in any error. SPC is essentially a location constraint, it does not make a component rigid (just holds the selected nodes in place). On the other hand, a rigid material will actually make the component rigid. This is necessary for the contact stiffness formulation. If you are still doubtful about this, you can always use a regular material (other than MAT20) and provide s very high value for Youngs modulus (eg. 10^12). This will also make the component rigid. I hope this answers your doubt.
@siddu22202 жыл бұрын
You can constrain a rigid part ie the direction and rotation using mat 20 card itself.. above that if u give SPC it becomes over constrained.

do i get the same answers if i import the mesh model into ansys and specify all other stuffs there like material boundary conditions and so on...?
@Aeroswap3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you should. But turns out that the solving procedure for every software is different and there is a slight variation in the results. Good thing is, this variation is negligible and the results can be considered as equivalent.

Hi Niranjan, this channel was created to help in developing tool skills. The main focus of every tutorial posted here is to demonstrate how to create FE models using a software tool. I believe that there are several resources out there which teach fundamental concepts, but very limited resources that teach how to apply these concepts using relevant tools. Hence, this initiative! However, I will take a note of your suggestion and try to include some important concepts in detail in the upcoming tutorials. Thanks!
