Thank you Louie Simmons for your undying effort to turn your fellow men into strength machines. Conjugate method works if done properly. Westside barbell for life boys.

I am no expert and I am not a competitive lifter (except with myself). But……Over the last 6 months since I started incorporating DE I have become a true fan of conjugate. I credit the DE sessions with improved technique, much better recovery between sets (shorter rests between max effort sets), more explosiveness on my max effort lifts. I will say that DE can really kick your 🍑 if you do it right. It did take 2-3 months before I was able to see ANY benefits as I had to learn how to properly apply force to the bar for all three lifts. That is where the technical improvements become really obvious. You must concentrate on all the same cues and set up like your lifting for a 1 rep max. When I started with DE, I found I would lift lazy. I would not use leg drive on the bench or I’d stiff leg the deadlifts because you don’t need great technique to move a bar with 40% of your 1 rep max, even with bands or chains. But once I got accustomed to doing my DE lifts technically correct and with greater acceleration I started to see substantial benefits in my ME lifts.

Great info! It’s something I’ve definitely overlooked coming from a background of bodybuilding into Strongman. More dynamic work is in my future. Thanks, Sam and Elitefts!

I was doing it wrong. The upper and lower bounds of technique to bracket the load was just the explanation I needed in 2023.

Dynamic Effort Method works so well that I’ve achieved the best results with the lowest amount overall abuse using it as a stand-alone system. Squatting 8 sets of 3, one set per minute using as much weight as possible once every five days was gold. I’ve even had good results on the bench press doing 8 sets of 3 with 70% every day.

@@LeeH3nson you would get a completely different force production if you divided mass by acceleration.

I liked how you mentioned jumps and throws as dynamic effort/speed work as jumps can have a higher force production than squats without the spinal compression. Nice job!

A couple of months ago I changed my powerlifting bodybuilding program and my gpp dropped considerably (because of me) and I noticed that in deadlift or squat I almost melted from fatigue.

if throws and jumps work, could hitting a heavy bag also be considered dynamic effort?

Was wondering if you would include something about wave periodization. If Westside is right about the body's three week cycles (please share a source that confirms this logic if you believe it's true yourself), then everybody who doesn't do Conjugate is missing something of utmost importance.
@Xplora2132 жыл бұрын
The three week cycle will be specific to Westside, given everything they do, but Wendler 531, Juggernaut, etc prescription is three weeks on, then deload. Same wave, different management. There is room for 4-5 week cycles then deload, or just roll through again. EliteFTS and Westside videos have suggested a range of 30-75% to get the right speed so clearly the original three week 50% wave can move a bit. You need to experiment with it. I’ve personally done better with smaller jumps each week than the 5% originally prescribed by Louie. It’s only DE it doesn’t matter too much.
