These videos are based on the book "Engineering Mechanics - Dynamics" by R.C. Hibbeler. That book is great, it has a very large number of example problems and review problems, so see if you can find it at a library somewhere.

You need to get one of your students to 3D print you a holster for that calculator. I like what you tried sticking it on the board. The holster would give you the best of both worlds: easy board mounting for quick use and quickly retrievable for complex calculator work.

Another question, SO if .25m is the Diameter shouldn't the radius be 0.125m and then we use this in our equation for Rho would be (4/5)(0.125)?
@johnandreibatac4141
@johnandreibatac4141 3 жыл бұрын
Its not the diameter. (I think he didn't say it's the diamter either) .25 is the length from A to B going upward. When the spool moves in circular motion, the x component of that .25 is what u need for An

If you rotate the FBD axis so that the weight force is vertical, this leaves the friction force only acting in the new X direction. From this I got a completely different answer for Normal force, as friction should not affect the normal force. Doing this I got Nb=11.772 rather than 28.85. What am I doing wrong? Is rotating the axis the issue or am I forgetting a force?
