There isn't a lot of torque if you are only turning 90 degrees, as a spinning back kick, your butt cheeks are facing your opponent. I would say that if your looking for power, a spinning side kick is more effective, but that is a 180 spin, and I guess in full contact fight, it is a bit slower.
