Dynasty - Season 6 - Episode 6 - Opening Titles (Featuring The Colbys)

Episode 6 of Season 6 was a special feature length episode shown as the Dynasty spin-off The Colbys launched.
The episode featured The Colbys travelling to Denver to attend a party at the Carrington mansion to celebrate a joint venture between Denver Carrington and Colby Enterprises. Colby Enterprises is a separate entity all together from Colby Co.
All copyrights belong to CBS Television. Dynasty is available on DVD and can be purchased at all good online entertainment retailers.

Opening themes were such signatures of TV shows back then and almost as famous as the shows themselves. I think the skip intro option on TV streaming has made them redundant.

It's actually five seconds shorter than it should be because this has been sped-up in the wrong music key (a PAL sourced tape no doubt).

What a truly dynamic cast! All of the classic stars and celebrities in one show. Aaron spelling and his writers and directors and producers went all out and did a great job on this program. I remember watching this as a kid.

i had no idea Missy (Barbara's nickname) was ever on this show. I know her from a mutual friend, an antique dealer in San Francisco who had Ms. Stanwyck as a client. She looks fabulous. They don't make them like that anymore!

Now, that is how you have an opening to a TV show. Murder shows that are on TV today. Have any intros theme songs or closing theme songs? This was also a great example of who is going to be on the show, or who wasn’t if they appeared in the cast. I actually have this theme song as a ringtone for my phone

I personally think this is where Dynasty "jumped the shark". Introducing the whole Colby family in one week was a bit much. Season six of Dynasty was a total mess by any standards. The Colbys, when it hit the airways, fared far worse, placing only 35th in the seasonal ratings its first year; oh, and that bazaar cliffhanger about aliens. Wow, these shows dropped from quality.... fast.

+Dalton Belflower I got into the show (in it's original syndication) on the night of the Moldavian Massacre. I think I pee'd my bed when I saw Blake strangling Alexis at the top of the stairs on Season 6's cliffhanger! I have no clue what season 8+9 are about, but it's obvious the acting is getting bad, as well as the story lines. But still - as a whole: an amazing story! Also, "Steven" being replaced by Jack Coleman: it really, really WORKED. Fallon and Amanda (and even Adam's replacement in "The Reunion") did not work, whatsoever!

the powers that be should've just ended the show all together in the 7th or 8th seasons, when the ratings went down, the storylines and creativity were going nowhere, and some actors wanted to leave .. i think Dynasty tried too hard to compete with Dallas .. sometimes when you try too hard, it doesn't always work

The Colbys weren't introduced in one week. MIles was introduced first, then Jason and Constance a few episodes later. A few episodes later, this episode introduced Sable, Monica and Bliss and lawyer Garrett.

It always bothered me, who did and who didn't get in the opening credits! Richard Anderson after all the years in television should have been credited there in the sixth season. And yes, Mr. Campbell should have been, too!

Luke was just a supporting actor and would not have been famous. Dynasty was unusual in that well known guest stars appeared in the opening credits like Ali McGraw, George Hamilton, Rock Hudson etc. This wouldn't have been the case in Dallas or other shows.

Actually, the producers of the show, kind of treated respected actors like shit, at the expence of younger actors who were terrible! But, Dynasty was not a happy-on-the-set show, anyway!
