DW5 was the last time I liked Wei Yan. He became brain-damaged in DW6, and since then the games have pretty much ignored him. Wei Yan’s ending is probably one of my favorites in the game. He puts everything behind his back and quietly disappears at sunrise.

I feel bad for Wei Yan for not being trusted by Zhuge Liang, just like Liu Bei. He was absolutely skilled in history, but didn't get the most credit.
